摘要: A method of making bearings includes treating a metallic surface of a bearing raceway with a pulsed electrochemical processing nozzle to transform the amorphous oxide into a crystalline structure on the metallic surface electro-chemically and convert the metallic surface into a ceramic like hardness surface. Treating the metallic surface can include forming a gradient in material composition transitioning from a purely metallic material at a cross-sectional position within the bearing raceway to a purely crystalline structure material at the ceramic like hardness surface of the bearing raceway.

摘要: A bearing assembly for a compressor of an internal combustion engine. The bearing assembly includes an outer ring having an outer cylindrical surface with a first and a second axial section. A positioning component which has a recess with an inner circumference is provided, wherein the positioning component surrounds the outer ring in a region of the second axial section and the positioning component and the outer ring are arranged displaceably relative to one another. To provide an alternative anti-rotation element and an alternative axial stop, at least one sub-section of an inner circumference of the recess of the positioning component is non-uniformly spaced from the center point and the cross-section of the second axial section around the circumference has at least one sub-section with a radius that varies around the contour of the outer cylindrical surface (radius variation). In a first circumferential section, the distance between the contour of the outer cylindrical surface of the second axial section and the axis of rotation is greater than the distance between the contour of the inner circumference of the recess of the positioning component and the axis of rotation in a second circumferential section.

The outer seal member has a pivot member which has a second lobe extending outwardly therefrom. The seal assembly includes a retaining ring that has a circumferential groove formed therein. The pivot member is pivotally seated in the groove so that the second lobe is moveable between the two first seating areas.

摘要: A slew drive includes a housing, a worm shaft having a worm thread carried within the housing for rotational movement and a torque tube having an outer surface. The torque tube is carried by the housing for rotational movement perpendicularly to the worm shaft and worm thread. A ring gear section having teeth is carried by the torque tube with the teeth engaging the worm threads. An inner raceway is fabricated as an integral part of the torque tube. An outer raceway is fabricated as an integral part of the housing, the outer raceway radially overlying the inner raceway, and bearing elements captured between the inner raceway and the outer raceway.

摘要: A telescopic steering column assembly comprises an upper and a lower shroud portion able to move relatively during telescopic adjustment, a telescopic steering shaft that passes through and is supported by the shroud portions through at least one support bearing assembly that acts between an upper portion of the telescopic steering shaft and a lower portion of the shroud that move relative to one another axially during telescopic adjustment. The at least one support bearing assembly comprises a first bearing race which is separate from the shroud portions and the steering shaft, a resilient spacer that applies a biasing force that is directed in a radial direction from the axis of the shaft and that is located between the first race and an adjacent face of one of the lower shroud portion and the upper shaft portion; a set of bearings, and a cage that locates the bearings relative to the first bearing race. The bearings bear onto a second bearing race that is defined by a surface of the other one of the lower shroud portion and the upper shaft portion, the second bearing face permitting the bearings to slide or roll in the direction of adjustment of the steering column assembly when it is adjusted for reach.

摘要: Load sharing stacked bearing structure including first bearing having a first inner race, first outer race and first set of roller elements housed between first inner race and first outer race and a second bearing having a second inner race, second outer race and second set of roller elements housed between second inner race and the second outer race. A housing surrounds the first and second bearings. First compliant element is provided with the first compliant element connected between the housing and the first outer race. The first compliant element, first outer race and housing define at a pressure chamber. The first outer race axially slidable relative to the second outer race such that an increase in pressure in pressure chamber causes a change in axial spacing between the outer races. This induces an additional axial load on the bearings which helps balance thrust load sharing.

An assembly apparatus includes an adjustment apparatus that enables positions of the fixed ring and the housing to be adjusted and a measurement apparatus that measures irregularity of rotation of the output shaft. In an assembly step, the fixed ring and the housing are fixed at a position where the irregularity of rotation of the output shaft is minimized.
