摘要: A head unit system for controlling motion of an object includes a secondary object sensor and a head unit that includes shear thickening fluid (STF) and a chamber configured to contain the STF. The chamber further includes a front channel and a back channel. The head unit further includes a piston housed at least partially radially within the piston compartment and separating the back channel and the front channel. The piston includes a first piston bypass and a second piston bypass to control flow of the STF between opposite sides of the piston. The chamber further includes a set of fluid flow sensors and a set of fluid manipulation emitters to control the flow of the STF to cause selection of one of a variety of shear rates for the STF within the chamber to control motion of the object with regards to a secondary object.

摘要: A shock absorber is provided with a cylinder, a piston inserted into the cylinder and demarcating an interior of the cylinder into an extension side chamber and a compression side chamber, a piston rod joined to the piston, a damping passage, provided in the piston rod, that communicates with the extension side chamber and the compression side chamber, and a damping force adjustment valve provided in the damping passage. The damping force adjustment valve includes a damping force adjustment unit and a solenoid that drives the damping force adjustment unit to adjust a flow channel resistance. The piston rod includes a yoke into which the damping force adjustment valve is inserted, and a piston holding member mounted on the yoke. The yoke includes a through-hole opening from a side of the yoke and leading to the interior, and a groove provided on a perimeter of the yoke, extending from an anti-piston end, and leading to the through-hole.

摘要: A vibration isolator includes a series of hard bushings that press against each other and slide, under the constraint of friction from the engagement of the bushings. A fastener, such as a bolt, passes through the engaged bushings, and one or more springs provide a spring force that maintains the engagement of the bushings. The bushings may include top and bottom bushings having chamfered surfaces, which engage corresponding upper and lower sloped surface on a middle friction bushing which can slide relative to the top and bottom bushings. The isolator may be part of a vibration isolation system that includes multiple isolators to provide isolation for an isolated object. The bushings may be made of metal or another suitable hard material. The isolator may be suitable in particular for vibration isolation in situations where vibrations are of severe, but short duration.

摘要: A damper including inner and outer tubes is provided. A piston is slidably disposed within the inner tube. An intermediate tube is positioned radially between the inner and outer tubes. The intermediate tube extends between first and second intermediate tube ends. An intermediate channel is disposed radially between the intermediate and inner tubes. A slanted elliptical seal is positioned inside the intermediate channel and divides the intermediate channel into first and second intermediate channel portions. A first control valve is in fluid communication with the second intermediate channel portion via a first intermediate tube opening. A second control valve is in fluid communication with the first intermediate channel portion via a second intermediate tube opening. The slanted elliptical seal abuts the intermediate tube between the first intermediate tube opening and the first intermediate tube end and between the second intermediate tube opening and the second intermediate tube end.
