    摘要: A new design for a low swirl burner is disclosed in which natural draft rather than a motorized pump is used to move a fuel-air mixture through the burner. This new design enables the burn off of gas at refineries in an environment where electric motors cannot be used because of the potential for sparks, which could trigger explosions. Additional modifications to the burner, including the introduction of flue gas to the burner allows for the reduction of NOx gas to meet current emission control targets, without the need for further post combustion emission control systems.

    摘要: In a method for the low-CO emissions part load operation of a gas turbine with sequential combustion, the air ratio (λ) of the operative burners (9) of the second combustor (15) is kept below a maximum air ratio (λmax) at part load In order to reduce the maximum air ratio (λ), a series of modifications in the operating concept of the gas turbine are carried out individually or in combination. One modification is an opening of the row of variable compressor inlet guide vanes (14) before engaging the second combustor (15). For engaging the second combustor, the row of variable compressor inlet guide vanes (14) is quickly closed and fuel is introduced in a synchronized manner into the burner (9) of the second combustor (15). A further modification is the deactivating of individual burners (9) at part load.

    摘要: A method of combusting non-gaseous fuel to heat a load in a process chamber includes the steps of injecting reactant streams into a combustion chamber. The combustion chamber does not contain a load to be heated, but communicates with the process chamber through a burner port. A first reactant stream includes the non-gaseous fuel, and is injected into the combustion chamber to cause the non-gaseous fuel to volatilize in the combustion chamber. A second reactant stream, which includes a premix of gaseous fuel and primary oxidant, also is injected into the combustion chamber. The first and second reactant streams then combust together to yield products of combustion that flow through the burner port from the combustion chamber to the process chamber. Importantly, the second reactant stream is injected into the combustion chamber adjacent to the first reactant stream. This causes the second reactant stream to adjoin the first reactant stream at the onset of volatilization of the non-gaseous fuel, which is found to inhibit the production of NOx.
