    摘要: A compression method, a multistage compression system and an air separation method and plant in which a gas is compressed in a series of compression stages to produce a compressed gas and each of the compression stages incorporate a variable speed compressor. In such compression method and system, the compressed air is produced at a pressure that remains stable during both normal operational conditions and during turn down conditions during which the flow rate of the gas is reduced. This reduction is accomplished by reducing the speed of the compressor in an initial compression stage such that the compressor operates at a point along its peak efficiency operating line at which the pressure ratio is directly proportional to the flow rate and such that the lower turn down flow rate is obtained at a reduced pressure which is made up in successive compression stages.

    摘要: Process and apparatus for optimization of integrated air separation systems. In an integrated process for the compression, cooling, and purification of air, an adiabatic compressor compresses an air stream to produce a compressed air stream. The compressed air stream is used to warm a first pressurized stream at a first pressure and a second pressurized stream at a second pressure. The produced streams include a first warmed pressurized stream, a second warmed pressurized stream, and a cooled compressed air stream. The first warmed pressurized stream is gaseous and is expanded in a turbine. At least part of the work produced by the turbine is used to power the adiabatic compressor. The cooled compressed air stream is further cooled by a cooling unit by heat exchange with water, and then purified in a purifying unit using a TSA process. At least part of the warmed second pressurized stream is used in cooling the water to be used in the cooling process and/or in warming the gas used to regenerate purifying unit.

    摘要: A low or no pollution power generation system is provided. The system has an air separator to collect oxygen. A gas generator is provided with inputs for the oxygen and a hydrocarbon fuel. The fuel and oxygen are combusted within the gas generator, forming water and carbon dioxide. Water or other diluents are also delivered into the gas generator to control temperature of the combustion products. The combustion products are then expanded through at least one turbine or other expander to deliver output power. The combustion products are then passed through a separator where the steam is condensed. A portion of the water is discharged and the remainder is routed back to the gas generator as diluent. The carbon dioxide can be conditioned for sequestration. The system can be optimized by adding multiple expanders, reheaters and water diluent preheaters, and by preheating air for an ion transfer membrane oxygen separation.

    摘要: An integrated gas turbine and air separation process and system having an air separation unit integrated with a gas turbine-driven air compression system which operates using fuel as the primary energy source. Feed air for the air separation unit is provided by two separate compressors driven by the gas turbine expander wherein one compressor provides air to the air separation unit and to the gas turbine combustor, and the other compressor provides feed air to the air separation unit. The ability to control an integrated air separation/gas turbine process during off-design or turndown conditions is improved by the use of two air compressors in the present invention compared with the usual single compressor gas turbine system. In the design of the integrated gas turbine and air separation system, the power requirement for a given air compression duty can be matched more readily to the power output of an available expansion turbine when two air compressors are used rather than a single air compressor.
