    摘要: A rotary drum configuration for the efficient blending, cooling, and screening of granular products having an outer cylindrical shell, an intake end, and a discharge end. The rotary drum is normally rotated at a predetermined speed by means of a conventional drive package. Disposed on an inner surface of the cylindrical shell are a plurality of compound helical flights and scoops, configured to blend granular product as it cascades from the intake end to the discharge end of the rotary drum. A coaxially disposed cylindrical air passage adjacent the discharge end of the rotary drum directs a counter flow of cooling air through the rotary drum towards the intake end, cooling the cascading granular product as it approaches the discharge end, and plurality of discharge ports and grading screens in the surface of the outer cylindrical shell adjacent the discharge end provide a entrance for a second counter flow of cooling air while simultaneously providing passage for the granular product to drop downwards towards a outer coaxial discharge passage.

    摘要: A method is provided for treating used potassium chloride (KCl) drilling mud for disposal. The process comprises feeding the mud into one end of a rotary tube, advancing the mud through the rotating tube and heating the mud by cascading action using lifters, to expose it to a hot gas stream, thereby partially drying the mud to lumps, further modifying the lumps by contacting them with a burner flame to form clinker pellets, and finally contacting the clinker pellets with a second flame to complete the drying process, producing dried clinker pellets containing the majority of the KCl in the mud, the pellets having a structure that resists the leaching action of water. The pellets further lend themselves to being evenly distributed over fields, so that unwanted excessive concentrations of KCl can be avoided.

    摘要: An asphalt plant apparatus is disclosed having a material lifter cage arranged in coaxial relationship within a mixing drum. The lifter cage includes a plurality of cage lifters having a trough-like configuration for collecting material in the drum and spilling the material in a veil over the cross section of the drum as the cage lifters pass through a rotational path of travel. The cage lifters are divided into two sets alternately arranged about the lifter cage. The two sets consist of a first set of cage lifters having a material retaining surface fixed at an angle with respect to a radial line extending from the axis of rotation and a second set of cage lifters fixed at an angle approximately 20.degree. different from that of the first set. As the cage lifters pass through the path of travel, the first set of lifters spills material over an arc of the path approximately 20.degree. different from the arc over which the second set spills material thereby increasing uniformity of density of material spilling from the lifters over the path of travel.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for drying a material utilizes a rotatable, elongated drum adapted to be coupled with a furnace and means for achieving pneumatic conveying of a material to be dried. The pneumatic conveying medium is controlled so that at least a portion of the material gravitates from the conveying stream until a portion of the water has been removed. The gravitational portion of the material is picked up at the outer surface of the drum by a plurality of vanes which rotate with the drum. Each vane includes one or more cleats which cause the material to effectively ''''dribble'''' from the vanes rather than dropping in clumps as the material reaches a point above the center of the drum. As the material moves from the side of the drum toward the center of the drum it is caught by interference structures disposed axially of the drum in radially spaced relationship with a plurality of the structures being placed longitudinally along the drum. Each structure presents a planar surface portion having opposed side edges. At least one side edge extends at an acute angle relative to a perpendicular bisector of the longitudinal axis of the drum and a sidewall extends upwardly from one side edge to effectively push material gravitating onto the planar surface in a predetermined direction independent of the direction of movement of the conveying medium. This forces the material toward either the inlet or the outlet of the drum and can increase or decrease the retention time of the material in the drum by several fold.
