摘要: A beam deflector includes a first electrode layer including a plurality of line electrodes extending in a first direction and arranged parallel to each other in a second direction crossing the first direction; a second electrode layer separated from the first electrode layer by a predetermined distance to face the first electrode layer; and a deflection layer between the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer and having a plurality of optically anisotropic molecules controlled by an electric field formed between the first electrode layer and the second electrode layer. Each of the optically anisotropic molecules has an ellipse shape having a major axis and a minor axis, wherein the major axis is arranged to head for the first direction.

摘要: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate. The first substrate includes a first area including a display portion, a second area adjacent to the first area, and an organic film. The second substrate has a substrate end along a boundary between the first area and the second area, and overlaps the first area. The first substrate includes an alignment film located in the display portion, terminals located in the second area and connected to a signal source, and a first groove formed in the organic film and located between the substrate end of the second substrate and the terminals in the second area. The terminals are arranged in a first direction. The first groove extends in the first direction along the terminals.

摘要: A polarization-insensitive device includes a liquid crystal layer and an adjustment layer that are stacked. The liquid crystal layer is configured to perform, under action of an electric field, first phase adjustment on a passing light component in a first polarization direction. The adjustment layer is configured to obtain a first light beam and a second light beam based on the incident light component in the first polarization direction that passes through the liquid crystal layer, second phase adjustment and polarization direction adjustment are performed on the first light beam at the adjustment layer. A polarization direction of the first light beam is perpendicular to a polarization direction of the first light beam obtained before the polarization direction adjustment; and the first light beam and the second light beam have different propagation directions after passing through the liquid crystal layer.

The device includes an optical film including optically anisotropic molecules configured to form a plurality of helical structures with a plurality of helical axes and a helical pitch. The helical pitch is a distance along a helical axis over which an azimuthal angle of an optically anisotropic molecule vary by a predetermined value. Over the helical pitch of a helical structure, the azimuthal angle of the optically anisotropic molecule is configured to vary nonlinearly with respect to a distance from a starting point of the helical pitch to a local point at which the optically anisotropic molecule is located along the helical axis.

摘要: An optical element includes a transparent substrate; an alignment layer formed over the transparent substrate; and a liquid crystal layer formed over the alignment layer. A plurality of grooves parallel to each other for aligning liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer are formed over a surface of the alignment layer in contact with the liquid crystal layer. A pitch of the grooves is greater than or equal to 10 nm and less than or equal to 600 nm. The alignment layer is formed of a copolymer of an energy curable composition and contains fluorine on the surface.

The switchable waveplate comprises first and second surfaces and a first liquid crystal layer disposed between the first and second surfaces. The first liquid crystal layer comprises a plurality of liquid crystal molecules that are rotated about respective axes parallel to a central axis, where the rotation varies with an azimuthal angle about the central axis. The switchable waveplate additionally comprises a plurality of electrodes to apply an electrical signal across the first liquid crystal layer.

摘要: An embodiment of the present disclosure provides a dimming glass, including: a glass substrate; and at least two dye liquid crystal cells on the glass substrate. The dye liquid crystal cells are mutually stacked and bonded with each other via an adhesive layer. The dye liquid crystal cell includes a central region and a peripheral region surrounding a periphery of the central region. The dye liquid crystal cell includes a cell gap adjusting structure in at least the peripheral region, which is configured to adjust a cell gap of the dye liquid crystal cell to be consistent. An embodiment of the present disclosure further provides a transportation device, including the dimming glass described above and used as a window glass of the transportation device.
