摘要： A device includes a Pancharatnam-Berry phase (“PBP”) film stack configured to diffract an input beam as a first polarized beam and a second polarized beam having opposite handednesses. A combined diffraction efficiency of the PBP film stack for the first and second polarized beams is greater than a predetermined value. The device also includes a compensation film stack coupled with the PBP film stack, and configured to respectively convert the first polarized beam and the second polarized beam into a third polarized beam and a fourth polarized beam having the opposite handednesses. The first and second polarized beams include at least one elliptically polarized beam, and the third and fourth polarized beams are two circularly polarized beams. The compensation film stack is configured to convert the at least one elliptically polarized beam into at least one of the two circularly polarized beams.

摘要： A system for measuring a satellite ghost efficiency of a diffractive lens is provided. The system includes a light source configured to output a first probing beam, and a beam tweaking assembly disposed between the light source and the diffractive lens, and configured to convert the first probing beam into a second probing beam that is a non-collimated beam. The diffractive lens diffracts the second probing beam into a plurality of diffracted beams including a first diffracted beam of a parent diffraction order and a second diffracted beam of a satellite ghost diffraction order. The beam tweaking assembly includes one or more optical lenses, and an adjustable optical power. The system also includes a detector configured to generate a beam spot pattern including a first beam spot corresponding to the first diffracted beam and a second beam spot corresponding to the second diffracted beam.

摘要： An achromatic wave plate using multiple twisted nematic liquid crystal polymer films or negative dispersion A-plate films is described. Each layer of twisted nematic liquid crystal polymer film aligns a next layer during forming achieving a monolithic structure. The achromatic wave plate with multiple layers of negative dispersion A-plate material has a non-continuous, easy to fabricate structure. Both types of films may be flexible and allow application to curved surfaces. The films of both examples also allow for high achromaticity in forward and backward propagation, thus, permitting the wave plate to operate as an optical isolator. A quarter wave of retardance across the entire visible spectrum and up to a 30-degree angle of incidence may be achieved.

摘要： A switchable waveplate includes a substrate, a first electrode layer on the substrate, an alignment layer on the first electrode layer and including alignment patterns formed thereon, a liquid crystal layer on the alignment layer, and a second electrode layer on the liquid crystal layer. The alignment patterns are determined based on angles of interest at a plurality of regions of the switchable waveplate. The liquid crystal layer includes liquid crystal molecules that are arranged according to the alignment patterns and are pre-tilted when no electric field is applied to the liquid crystal layer. The first electrode layer and the second electrode layer are configured to apply electric fields of different magnitudes to a plurality of zones of the switchable waveplate.
