摘要: An electronic instrument has a power unit configured to allow insertion of a cell and to supply an electric power output from the inserted cell, a charging unit configured to charge the cell inserted in the power unit, and a voltage detecting unit configured to detect a voltage value of the cell inserted in the power unit. A cell type determining unit is configured to determine that the cell inserted in the power unit is a secondary cell as a rechargeable battery when the voltage value detected by the voltage detecting unit is a value equal to or lower than a predetermined threshold value and to determine that the cell inserted in the power unit is a primary cell as a non-rechargeable battery when the voltage value detected by the voltage detecting unit is larger than the predetermined threshold value.

摘要: A detecting circuit and a configuration status detecting method of a Real-Time Clock (RTC) battery and an electronic apparatus using the same are provided. The detecting circuit includes a power capturing unit, a voltage dividing unit and an output unit. The power capturing unit couples to a power supply output terminal of the RTC battery and captures a power supply signal from the power supply output terminal in response to a detecting-controlled signal. The voltage dividing unit couples to the power capturing unit and is configured to divide the power supply signal captured by the power capturing unit to generate a dividing signal. The output unit couples to the voltage dividing unit to receive the dividing signal, where the output unit generates a detecting result signal related to a configuration status of the RTC battery according to the dividing signal.

摘要: When a time keeping apparatus is in a power saving mode, performing time display is stopped, and the apparatus periodically receives a time data from outside and sets the data to a second time counter 98 and an hour-and-minute time counter 99. When the operation mode of the time keeping apparatus is switched from the power saving mode to the display mode, the apparatus resumes to display the current time based on the counted values in the second time counter 98 and the hour and minute time counter 99.

摘要: A voltage and internal resistance of a battery are measured in advance as its capacity decreases. In a flash memory of a device powered by the battery, voltages necessary to drive a motor, an EL display, and a bezel input unit are stored. By comparing the voltage of the battery with a resistor connected as a dummy load and the voltage read from the flash memory, it can be determined whether it is possible to drive the motor, the EL display, or the bezel input unit.

摘要: A charging type electronic timepiece of the present invention is configured such that a return to a correct time display is achieved after the recovery of the voltage on the basis of time information held by a circuit in case the power-supply voltage has dropped to such an extent as to prohibit a motor drive without causing any interruption of oscillation (a stop of issue of reference signals) and such that in case the extent of the voltage drop is such as to cause an interruption of oscillation, a stop alarm display is given first after the voltage recovery through a storage of the fact of the interruption of the circuit since correct time information is no longer expected to be held by the circuit. This allows the charging type electronic timepiece to minimize the inconvenience that the user must perform a time adjustment and to securely inform the user of a true necessity of time adjustment through a display of its information. It is therefore possible to provide a charging type electronic timepiece ensuring remarkable conveniences and reliability for the user.

摘要: Since a button-type battery having the minimum capacity is used for wristwatch, the battery voltage is dropped when power is temporarily consumed. When a step motor consuming much power every second and a buzzer for alarm mechanism operate at the same time, current in quantities flows into these two loads. In result, the battery voltage is dropped and the wristwatch runs down. Therefore, this invention aims to shift the timings of those loads' operations.

摘要: An input line carrying a square-wave voltage is connected through a capacitor to the drain and via an inverter to the gate of a MOSFET acting as a diode, the relative magnitudes of the drain and gate pulses being so chosen that the FET conducts during alternate half-cycles of the square wave whereby the capacitor is charged during nonconductive half-cycles and is fully discharged to the potential of the source of the FET during conductive half-cycles. If the source is biased by a constant voltage, a square wave in a higher voltage range is available at the drain. If the source is connected to potential through another capacitance, a d-c voltage is available at that electrode. Complementary MOSFET/diodes can be connected in push-pull or in cascade to amplify the input voltage; they may also be combined with supplementary voltage boosters including cascaded stages composed of ordinary diodes and capacitors. The MOSFET/diode may be part of an electronic clock drive.

摘要: An electronic timepiece and control method of an electronic timepiece prevent system shutdowns due to a voltage drop, and increase opportunities to acquire time information. An electronic timepiece 1 has a reception module 50 that receives satellite signals; a storage battery 24 that supplies drive power; a voltage detection circuit 74 that detects the voltage of the storage battery 24; a temperature detector 67 that detects temperature; a reception command unit that instructs receiving satellite signals; and a reception controller that executes a reception process to receive satellite signals in response to a command from the reception command unit. The reception controller executes the reception process when the detected battery voltage is greater than or equal to a threshold set for the detected temperature, and does not execute the reception process when the reserve power is less than the threshold.
