    Abstract: A programmable controller includes a CPU (central processing unit) unit; and a communication unit coupled to the CPU unit via an internal bus. Each of the CPU unit and the communication unit provides a TCP/IP protocol. The internal bus is coupled to the internet layer of the CPU unit, and is coupled to the Ethernet driver of the communication unit. The internet layer of the CPU unit has a routing function which routes incoming data to at least one of the Ethernet driver of the CPU unit, or the internal bus, and the Ethernet driver of the communication unit has a switching function which routes incoming data to at least one of the internet layer of the communication unit, or the internal bus.

    Abstract: An automation interface is provided for interacting with industrial controllers. The automation interface provides for programming, editing, monitoring and maintenance of industrial controllers programmatically from a local or remote location. The automation interface component is adapted to communicate with industrial controllers by integrating a computer process interface library into the automation interface component. The computer process interface library exposes the automation interface component to client application processes, so that the client application processes can communicate with the at least one industrial controller programmatically. The automation interface is provided with functionality for downloading, uploading and programming of control programs to the processors of the industrial controllers.

    Abstract: The present invention includes a plurality of input/output processors communicating with a master processor. Each of the input/output processors has a filtering mechanism to filter the inputs before transmission to the master over the communication channel precluding the necessity of filtering at the master. More importantly, the shared communications system is not loaded down with every change of an input. Because of this feature, only meaningful changes are put on the communication line, thus substantially reducing its load which makes its effective response time stay high. The inputs when received at the master can be immediately handled to improve the central processor response time. Two types of filtering are provided, in particular, transition and debounce filtering to respond to switch and sensor inputs. Also, there is provided a means to programmably select the type of filter and the time period of filtering.

    Abstract: A system and method provides data reporting and real-time user interfaces to a client device of a material handling system according to a unified architecture. The method includes (i) receiving, by a machine automation controller, real-time data of one or more machine automation devices of a material handling system; (ii) controlling, by the machine automation controller, the one or more machine automation devices using the real-time data as feedback; (iii) shaping the real-time data according to a domain model into a staging object; (iv) maintaining a cache object that corresponds to the staging object in a broker process; and (v) responding to one or more client requests for a data item by transmitting at least a portion of data contained in the cache object to a client device for presenting in a user interface. The client device may also be collecting historical data or statistical data for reporting purposes.
