    摘要: A method and a device for cutting freeform surfaces is disclosed. In 5-axis cutting, a workpiece is milled by a tool, i.e., a milling cutter, in such a way that a desired freeform surface is obtained. The tool is moved for cutting along at least one tool path, i.e., cutting path, defined on the basis of interpolation points in relation to the workpiece. According to this invention, a tool vector in the form of leading angles and setting angles is defined for each interpolation point on the tool path. For each interpolation point a normal vector is determined from the leading angles and the setting angles and also from a drive vector determined for each interpolation point. The normal vector in each interpolation point on the tool path is used for a 3D-radius correction for equalizing/compensating for deviations in dimensions of the milling cutter.

    摘要: A method and control system for forming workpiece surfaces with at least a portion being non-rotationally symmetric (i.e., axis asymmetric) is provided. In one aspect, a slow tool servo system is provided to fabricate a surface having at least an axis asymmetric portion, and optionally, a superimposed axis symmetric asphere or spherical portion. A workpiece is mounted on a spindle and a tool is mounted to a translatable tabletop surface. The z position of the contact point of the workpiece and working tool is determined as a function of the x position of the same contact point and as a function of the angle of rotation of the spindle about the spindle axis. By making the z position of the contact point a function of both the angle of spindle rotation and the x position, the lateral and longitudinal position of the working tool can be moved at designated spindle rotation angles to form a surface having both axis asymmetric and axis symmetric asphere or spherical portions.

    摘要: A grinding machine is particularly adapted to produce blades and buckets of the kind used in turbines and other objects having complex curved surfaces. Data blocks representing the surface of the object to be created are stored in a computer that controls the machine to finish a rough blank into the final object. An abrasive belt passes over a nose roller to make a line contact with the workpiece. The belt and the workpiece are subject to six computer-controlled degrees of freedom: three in translation and three in rotation. The supporting arm of the nose roller can be moved angularly about the belt contact point while the nose roller can be adjusted about a perpendicular axis through the contact point of the belt. Feedback controls indicate the position of and the motion velocity about the six axes. A positional feedback indicates the precise position of the workpiece at the finishing point to permit automatic compensation for belt wear.

    摘要: In a machine tool, a component such as a grinding wheel acts on a workpiece to form the latter into a circularly asymmetric shape, for example, a crankpin. Movement of the grinding wheel is controlled by a control signal which is derived from theoretical relative positions and positional velocities of the grinding wheel relative to the workpiece. In the course of at least one revolution of the workpiece, the respective positions of the grinding wheel relative to the workpiece are measured for each of a succession of angular positions of the workpiece. The measured positions are compared with corresponding theoretical positions and data indicative of any differences are stored, and then used to modify the control signal during a subsequent revolution of the workpiece so as to compensate for any of said differences and thereby reduce the magnitude of any error which would have resulted from the measured positional differences.

    摘要: A free-form curve interpolation method and device is provided for smoothly interconnecting curves using a non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) curve representation. This ability to interconnect free-form curves is important when machine parts of small dimensions or complex configuration. This is accomplished by a preprocessing calculation unit reads NC programs including an interpolation command of a NURBS curve expressed by a function using a parameter t as a variable, and calculates a distance .DELTA.L to move during an interpolation period T. A parameter change calculation unit calculates a change .DELTA.t in the parameter t brought on when moving by the distance .DELTA.L, on the basis of a current position specified by a current value t.sub.i of the parameter t. A movement amount calculation unit calculates a position when the value of parameter t is t.sub.i +.DELTA.t, by a defining formula of the NURBS curve. Subsequently, the movement calculation unit calculates a movement amount of each axis for amoving to the calculated position, and outputs an interpolation pulse to each axis.
