    摘要: Disclosed is a numerically controlled method of broad application but particularly useful for grinding cutting edges and clearance surfaces on cutting tools such as end mills and other similar tools. A programmable numerical servo-motor type control is described. All of the grinding operations are completed at a single station in a series of consecutive grinding operations performed by the same grinding wheel and during which the tool remains in the same work holder. The various cutting edges and clearance surfaces to be ground are both mathematically located and mathematically defined such that the grinding operations may be conducted under numerical control according to optimum wheel speed, feed, position and coolant conditions and with a wide range of independently and simultaneously movable axes. A grinding wheel wear compensation program and a coolant dispensing program are also numerically controlled in coordination with the grinding operations.

    摘要: There is provided an apparatus for predicting a tool life which reports a tool life ratio to an operator or a control device, when a remarkable change of work load values is detected. In a predicted life setting section 122, there is set a percentage of a quantity worked until the detection of the noticeable change of the work load values based on the workable quantity until the breakage of the tool which is regarded as 100%. A predicted residual work quantity calculating section 123 calculates a residual tool life value converted into a parameter at a point of time when an alarm is input from a work load monitoring section 121, on the basis of data of a work quantity accumulating section 120 and the predicted life setting section 122. A predicted residual work quantity outputting section 124 reports the residual tool life value to an operator or a control device. In consequence, when the remarkable change of the work load values has been detected, a ratio of the residual work quantity to the tool life can be reported to the operator or the control device.

The correction signals represent varying infeed offset values produced in response to the number of completed infeed cycles following a grinding wheel sharpening operation. The correction signals are derived from a plurality of empirically determined functions relating the number of completed infeed cycles for a particular combination of workpiece and tooling design to deviations of workpiece diameter from a desired dimension.

    摘要: A control system including apparatus which compensates for wear of the cutting tool. In a contouring control wherein the programmed instantaneous velocity along the contour is represented by a vector V, first and second compensating arrangements measure the motion of the first and second axes drive motors and multiply output signals indicative thereof by a geometrical function of the angle between the programmed tangential path of the cutting tool and one of the axis and by a factor related to the magnitude of tool wear to produce compensation signals. The compensation signals are applied to motor control loops to cause the actual tangential path of the cutting tool to be offset by a distance vector C which is normal to the vector V and has a magnitude equal to that of cutting tool wear.

    摘要: To watch the condition of tools mounted on a turret punch press and an automatic tool changing unit, a control device performs a simulation of a punch processing on the basis of an NC program for the turret punch press. On the basis of the simulation, the control device calculate the number of times for which each tool mounted on the punch press performs punchings in the workpiece during the punch processing. From the number of times, the control device determine the abrasion loss of the tools mounted on the punch press and the automatic tool changing unit. The control device is also adapted to store a length by which a tool is shortened by a grinding processing to be made in a tool to sharpen the same.
