    摘要: An extrusion drive control system for control of extrusion process machinery driven elements. A drive interface unit is adapted for use with any of a variety of drive motors and regulators. The interface unit accepts analog condition information signals from the drive motor and regulator, having any of a plurality of predetermined input characteristics, and provides corresponding digital signals having characteristics that are invariant with respect to the particular input characteristics. The interface unit has a communication channel for receiving digital control signals and for outputting digital signals indicating drive operating conditions. The low power digital circuitry and communications channel are protected from the high voltage and high power connections to the drive and drive regulator.Extrusion control means comprises the interface unit together with a drive control module, which permits input of control signals including speed set and ratio set, and permits display of at least one of the operating conditions. The drive control module has an internal data bus and a communications channel connected to the data bus and to the interface unit communications channel.For the control of an extrusion line process, having a plurality of driven elements which have related desired operating speeds, a control system comprises a similar plurality of extrusion control means, all connected to a controller, together with another drive control module for the input of a line speed setting. The controller responds to the input line speed setting and the operating conditions of the driven elements to output appropriate digital control signals to the driven elements to control them to operate at the desired related speeds. The interface unit outputs appropriate analog control signals to the drive units.

    摘要: An improved control system for facilitating tapping work in a machining center of the type which performs a variety of machining operations automatically. Control is effected by establishing and maintaining a certain relationship between the operation of a spindle motor which rotates a tap, and the operation of a Z-axis feed motor which transports a table longitudinally of the tap, the table mounting a workpiece. Specifically, the spindle motor and Z-axis feed motor are driven in relation to one another at all times in such a manner that the equation N.sub.s =f.sub.m /P will be satisfied, where N.sub.s (rpm) is the rotational speed of the spindle motor, f.sub.m is the feed speed of the table along the Z-axis, and P is the thread pitch of the tap. Apparatus for controlling the spindle motor includes a control circuit which is adapted to stop the spindle at a prescribed angle of rotation.

    摘要: A control system for a veneer lathe feeds a knife into a rotating log to peel off a continuous sheet of veneer. When the knife is retracted, the orientation of the log is established and stored so that when the peeling operation is resumed, the knife motion is calculated to engage the log at the discontinuity in the log surface produced during retraction. In addition, when the knife engages the rotating log a compensation factor is momentarily added to the knife motion feed command to alleviate variations in veneer thickness caused by the mechanics of the lathe during impact. A considerable savings of veneer is obtained.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for producing relative arcuate movement which may be greater than one quadrant for each input command by subdividing the movement into a plurality of sequential linear lengths of varying extent and proper direction. The extent of each length is defined by the number of steps of movement to be produced simultaneously over the same time interval on each of the pair of perpendicular axes. The extent of each length is determined to be that which both maintains the actual movement within a maximum deviation from the commanded path and is within the change of velocity limitation of the system thereby inherently providing acceleration and deceleration as well as not excessively exceeding any feed rate command.The method and system further selects the extent of the length from a group of possible extents by investigating which extent is most acceptable having regard to relative emphasis of path deviation and velocity error. The relative emphasis may be set by input commands.

The control system comprises a thread cutting interruption control circuit consisting of an adder-subtractor automatically carrying out addition or subtraction of the output of a thread pitch memory to and from a pair of outputs of a function generator variable depending on the position of the tool along a predetermined path, a temporary memory storing the information of a thread cutting command position read by a tape reader and stored in a first memory, and a thread cutting command position changing circuit applying the output of the adder-subtractor to the first memory in response to the application of an interruption instruction signal during the thread cutting operation thereby replacing the information of the thread cutting command position previously stored in the first memory by the output of the adder-subtractor, and, on the other hand, applying the output of the temporary memory to the first memory in response to the application of a restarting instruction signal thereby restarting the thread cutting cycle again after elimination of the cause requiring the interruption.

    摘要: An apparatus is provided for moving a machine element along a straight line path in a plane defined by two orthogonal axes of motion. A switching device is provided for producing an input signal representing the slope of the straight line path which is defined by the tangent of the angle formed between the path and a first axis of motion. In accordance with mechanisms known in the prior art, first output pulses are generated for moving the machine element along the first axis of motion at an arbitrary velocity. The invention provides a counter circuit having a modulus as a function of the component of slope along the first axis of motion. Further in response to the input signal and each of the first output pulses, the counter circuit increments a number of times represented by the component of slope along the second axis of motion. Each time the counter circuit cycles through its modulus, a carry signal is generated which represents a second output pulse for incrementally moving the machine element along the second axis of motion.
