摘要: A system that can analyze and modify a point map file corresponding to a lens design is described. The lens design is optimized to meet a patient's ophthalmic prescription. However, a digital surfacing machine may not be physically capable of producing on a lens blank a lens curvature required by the prescription and defined by the point map file. The system takes into account limitations of physical characteristics of the digital surfacing machine, such as the diameter and speed of movement of the cutting tool, and modifies the point map file so that the digital surfacing machine can produce the lens curvature on the lens blank.

摘要: A camera system for digital and commercial cutting tables is described. The use of multiple cameras allows the cutting table to self-calibrate and perform cutting projects with minimal human interaction. One camera is placed near the surface of a cutting area. Another camera is placed higher above the cutting area, allowing it to see most of the cutting area. The higher camera can see when new media to be cut is placed on the cutting table. It can also find the location of any codes or guide dots on the media. The computer running the machine uses the higher camera to see new projects and then sends the lower camera for a close up view of codes and guide dots, allowing the machine to calibrate and begin a new project.

摘要: Machine tool systems and methods include methods of synchronizing cutting tools with a workpiece retainer. In some embodiments, the methods and systems provide at least two cutting tools that are synchronized to machine a common surface of a workpiece in a quick and efficient manner. A controller having a single line of code for controlling both cutting tools and the workpiece retainer may be used. The cutting tools may be synchronized such that they engage substantially opposite portions of the workpiece, thereby to reduce resulting forces in the workpiece that may tend to induce workpiece deflection and/or chatter. In other embodiments, a cutting tool is synchronized with a split workpiece holder that may be controlled to induce a compression, tension, or torsion pre-load in the workpiece.
