The magnitude of the disturbance may be converted into a delta lift command if the magnitude of the disturbance is outside a criteria. The delta lift command may be post processed. The delta lift command may be converted into symmetric lateral surface position commands for control surfaces. The symmetric lateral surface position commands may be communicated to lateral control surface actuators to move the control surfaces according to the symmetric lateral surface position commands.

A processor unit receives information associated with an operation to be performed by the aircraft. The processor unit receives an indication that wind shear may be present during the operation. Responsive to receiving the indication that the wind shear may be present during the operation, the processor unit identifies the recommended configuration for the aircraft to perform the operation using the information associated with the operation to be performed by the aircraft and rules for operating the aircraft in the wind shear conditions.

A system for processing signals representative of airspeed and inertial longitudinal acceleration in first and second channels, respectively, and providing cancellation of the turbulence-induced components of the respective signals. Shear detection and compensation circuits are provided in the system for reducing speed wandering in moderate and heavy turbulence. A circuit processing the signal .DELTA.V from the shear detector circuit is utilized to provide a gust bias signal input in the system.
