摘要: A first image forming apparatus detects a malfunction generated in a functional unit thereof and determines a functional mode that cannot be executed. The first image forming apparatus transmits the functional mode that cannot be executed to a management apparatus. When obtaining the functional mode that cannot be executed, the management apparatus updates a functional mode table. The management apparatus increases a priority of the first image forming apparatus for a functional mode that the first image forming apparatus can execute. Along with this, the management apparatus decreases a priority of a second image forming apparatus that normally operates for the functional mode that the first image forming apparatus can execute. When receiving a job, the management apparatus refers to the updated functional mode table to allocate the job to one of the image forming apparatuses.

摘要: A dynamic pool of virtual instances is managed. Each virtual instance corresponds to one or more hardware resources. Management includes tracking for each virtual instance: historical and current utilization, an operating cost, a capacity, and a characteristic associated with a capability of the hardware resources to which the virtual instance corresponds. A given virtual instance of the dynamic pool of virtual instances on which to schedule a workload for completion is selected, based on a characteristic of the workload matching the characteristic of the given virtual instance, and taking into account the capacity, the current utilization, and the operating cost of the given virtual instance. The hardware resources are managed by service providers different than a service provider managing computing devices on which the virtual instances are managed and the workload is scheduled, and the workload is received from a customer different than any of these service providers.

摘要: A system and method for establishing a burstiness metric is presented including at least one processor and a computer-readable storage medium in communication with the at least one processor, wherein the computer-readable storage medium comprises one or more programming instructions for performing the steps of: receiving information related to a plurality of tasks performed by a plurality of electronic devices based on input received from one or more users; analyzing the received information; employing an availability model to the information analyzed; and generating a schedule based on the information analyzed and the availability model by redistributing at least one task of the plurality of tasks between the plurality of electronic devices in accordance with electronic device availability and computational loads. Also, an assessment is made based on the information analyzed to determine a proportion of the plurality of tasks to be supported to achieve a required quality of service.

摘要: A system and method for automatically redirecting a job in a community of networked devices. A peer-based device community can be created by connecting at least two networked devices utilizing a manual/self-discovery approach based on a set of rules and policies in order to interact and publish a device capability within the device community. A self-assessment approach can be employed to monitor and track the status and consumables of each networked device. A device can perform a self-assessment based on particular criteria and then determine, based on such criteria, whether to request assistance. Such a request is broadcast by the device and includes job ticket data and data indicating why such a request is being made. Devices receiving the request then perform a self-assessment in relation to the specific job and determine if they can provide better service. The job can be automatically transmitted between the networked devices in response to a help request with respect to an exception condition in the device community. A notification indicative of the transmission of the job to another device can be provided to a user. Such an approach provides an internal workload balancing with greater customer satisfaction by re-routing the job from the devices in the exception conditions.

摘要: In an information processing device, an operation executing unit executes a requested operation in one of a plurality of operating modes. A monitoring unit monitors an electric power consumed by the execution of the requested operation. Information related to the consumed electric power is stored in a memory unit. A setting unit defines a consumption period and an allowable consumed electric power within the consumption period. A control unit computes a consumed-electric-power log of the consumed electric power monitored at intervals of a predetermined time and a consumed-electric-power total log, and stores consumed-electric-power log related information in the memory unit. When an operation request is received within the consumption period, the control unit controls the execution of the requested operation based on the consumed-electric-power log related information and the allowable consumed electric power.
