Abstract:
A printing system including a plurality of host devices and a plurality of printing devices connected. The printing system includes: a storage unit; a first storage processing unit for storing, in the storage unit, a print status of a print job; an information updating unit for monitoring the plurality of printing devices and updates the execution status identification information stored in the storage unit; and a job management unit for determining, based on the print status, whether the print job is to be executed on the one printing device. When a processing request for the print job is sent from another host device while the printing process for the print job sent from the one host device is suspended in the one printing device, the job management unit allows the one printing device to execute the print job sent from the another host device.
Abstract:
The disclosure discloses a printer including a CPU that executes a detection process, a first determination process, and a first mode switching process. In the detection process, a type of a storage body is detected. In the first determination process, it is determined on the basis of a detection result whether the type of the storage body attached to the attaching part is a first type in an ordering state associated with insufficiency in quantity or a second type other than the first type. In the first mode switching process a control mode is switched from a normal mode prepared in advance correspondingly to the second type to a medium-saving mode prepared in advance correspondingly to the first type for reducing a consumption amount of the print-receiving medium than the normal mode, in the case that the type is determined as the first type.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus transmits, when a function which cooperates with a function providing apparatus is added, information on the added function to a management server, and changes a failure monitoring setting according to the returned monitoring condition. If a failure occurs, the image forming apparatus generates, if the failure is attributable to the function providing apparatus, failure information indicating that the failure is attributable to the function providing apparatus, and otherwise, the image forming apparatus generates failure information on the failure to transmit to the management server. Upon receiving the information on the added function from the image forming apparatus, the management server returns the monitoring condition corresponding to the added function to arrange for maintenance of the image forming apparatus. If the failure is attributable to the function providing apparatus, the management server does not arrange for maintenance of the image forming apparatus.
Abstract:
A first image forming apparatus detects a malfunction generated in a functional unit thereof and determines a functional mode that cannot be executed. The first image forming apparatus transmits the functional mode that cannot be executed to a management apparatus. When obtaining the functional mode that cannot be executed, the management apparatus updates a functional mode table. The management apparatus increases a priority of the first image forming apparatus for a functional mode that the first image forming apparatus can execute. Along with this, the management apparatus decreases a priority of a second image forming apparatus that normally operates for the functional mode that the first image forming apparatus can execute. When receiving a job, the management apparatus refers to the updated functional mode table to allocate the job to one of the image forming apparatuses.
Abstract:
A printing system for printing both secure value documents and non-secure documents while ensuring that fraudulent copies of secure value documents printed by the printing system can be detected is provided. The printing system determines if the source is a secure or non-secure source. If the source of the image is a secure source, it will print the image, including any graphic security features. If the source is a non-secure source, before printing the image a filter is applied to the image data to remove any graphic security features included in the received image and/or the printing system will not add any graphic security features to the received image to ensure that the printed image will not contain any copy detection graphic security features.
Abstract:
A image forming apparatus acquires an amount of a printing material for image data of each page included in the print job formed from a plurality of pages; and transmits, to an image forming unit, image data of an Mth page included in the print job after transmitting, to a temperature control unit, information of the acquired amount of the printing material for the image data of the Mth page included in the print job. Particularly, when another job to be executed with a higher priority, the transmission unit transmits image data of a page included in the other job to the image forming unit after transmitting, to the image forming unit, the image data of the page corresponding to the information of the amount of the printing material transmitted to the temperature control unit.
Abstract:
A system and method for operating an imaging device is shown. The method includes detecting the malfunction when the imaging device is in a normal mode of operation; causing the imaging device to enter a reduced function mode following the detecting; enabling only one or more functions of the imaging device when in the reduced function mode, the one or more functions being less than all of the functions available when the imaging device is in the normal mode of operation. The one or more functions have operating points when the imaging device is in the reduced function mode that are different than the operating points of the one or more functions when the imaging device is in the normal mode of operation.
Abstract:
Provided is an image forming apparatus, including: a communication processing section; a command template transmission section; and a command execution section. The communication processing section transmits/receives an electronic mail related to image formation. The command template transmission section causes the communication processing section to transmit, upon detection of a specific event, a notification electronic mail including a notification of the specific event and a command template of a predetermined command related to the specific event in a text format to a predetermined electronic mail address. The command execution section executes, when a command electronic mail including a command of the same format as the command template in a text format is received by the communication processing section, a process designated by the command included in the command electronic mail.
Abstract:
A method and a printer for recovering a printing job by a user from a printer's control panel after the printer is stopped either automatically by the printer due to a printer error, or manually by a user either because the user notices a printer error or simply wants to modify the settings of an on-going printing job. Embodiments of the method and printer provide on the printer's control panel user interfaces to allow the user, while the printing job is paused, to select an option that changes the printer into a repair mode, modify job settings of the printing job, and select job restart specifications, so that the stopped printing job can be recovered based on the modified job settings and the selected job restart specifications. Particularly a non-fixable printer problem may be avoided when the printing job is resumed by disabling or not using a non-fixable printer part.
