The control device 8 has a control unit that generates and outputs by a printing program a command instructing the printer 9 to print; and a management unit that adds a maintenance command issuing an instruction related to the status of the printer 9 to the command output by the control unit, and sends the command with the added maintenance command to the printer 9, by a maintenance program that is different from the printing program.

    摘要: A stream printing method implemented in a print server and a printer for handling printing of large files. The print server divides the input data file into a plurality of data chunks, and transfers them sequentially to the printer. The printer sequentially rips the data chunks and prints them. The print server dynamically monitors the system performance factors to measure, for each data chunk, the time required to extract the data chunk from the data file, the time required to transfer the data chunk to the printer, the time required to rip the data chunk, and the time required to print the data chunk. The sizes of the data chunks are calculated using these performance factors and the chunk size of a previous data chunk.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes a storage unit, a selection unit, and a generation unit. The storage unit stores first route information for acquiring first print information from an information processing apparatus, and stores second route information for acquiring second print information via an information conversion apparatus. The selection unit selects the second route information if conversion of the first print information into the second print information is necessary. In response to determining that a factor disturbing an acquisition of the second print information exist, the generation unit changes the second route information selected by the selection unit to the first route information, and request the conversion to the information processing apparatus so that, among pieces of print information which can be output from the information processing apparatus and can be printed by the image forming apparatus, the first print information becomes print information closer to the second print information.

    摘要: There are provided a printing apparatus which can maintain an optimal transfer rate with an external device by an optimal buffer management, and a reception buffer management method thereof. In the printing apparatus according to this invention, assume that data received in unit of packet using a wireless interface from the external device is stored in a plurality of reception buffers. A maximum receivable data amount which can be used for receiving the data from the external device is determined on the basis of the number of the confirmed empty reception buffer(s). The data transmittable amount notified of the external device is then compared with the maximum receivable data amount. When receiving a request from the external device, the printing apparatus replies to the external device to change the notified data transmittable amount, in accordance with the comparison result.

    摘要: Provided is a method, system, and program for interfacing with a printer driver. Data and an acknowledgment request is received from the printer driver. The printer driver does not send further data to print until receiving an acknowledgment reply indicating that the transmitted data passed an initial check to improve printer performance. An acknowledgment reply is transmitted to the printer driver in response to the acknowledgment request before completing the initial check of the sent data to cause the printer driver to send further data. Data processing operations are resynchronized in response to detecting an error in the received data. The received data is rasterized and outputted.

To accomplish this object, there is provided a printing method of using a host which can set an auto retreat of print data and a print output apparatus which is connected so that it can bidirectionally communicate with the host and is equipped with a memory device which can perform a retreat processing of the data in response to a request from the host, wherein the host sends the print data to the print output apparatus, the print output apparatus receives the print data sent from the host and checks whether the data can be normally printed or not on the basis of print attributes of the received print data and a status of the print output apparatus, when it is decided that the data can be normally printed, the printing is executed, and when it is decided that the data cannot be normally printed, the print data is retreated to the memory device in accordance with the setting of the auto retreat, thereby enabling the printing of other print data to be executed.
