The method further includes transporting the stack of documents via a transport mechanism, one document at a time, along a transport path and denominating with a currency detector each of the currency bills in the stack of documents. The currency detector is positioned adjacent to the transport path. The method further includes scanning with a barcode scanner a barcode on each substitute currency medium in the stack of documents. The barcode scanner is positioned adjacent to the transport path. The method further includes imaging with an image scanner each substitute currency medium in the stack of documents to generate a raw image file of the substitute currency medium. The image scanner is positioned adjacent to the transport path.

    摘要: A multi-format document printer and processor has a plurality of data writing and reading means for data in different formats, disposed along a transport path. Forms are separated from a continuous perforated form supply and advanced along the transport path. Bidirectional drive rollers disposed along the path advance the documents and reverse them for reprocessing as necessary. At the end of the transport path, the documents are routed to an exit hopper or a reject hopper and a sensor at the exit detects already-issued forms manually loaded by an operator, which already-issued forms can be likewise bidirectionally processed for reading, verification, modification and the like. The processor is preferably embodied for transportation tickets and boarding passes, having: optical character recognition (OCR) write and read devices, magnetic strip write and read devices and a dot matrix printer having an array of print heads operable to print a document in one pass. Reversible feed and take-up spools for a wide ribbon movably disposed under the dot matrix array are provided with separate bidirectional two-speed drives. Movable tension arms along the ribbon path detect a near-empty condition of either of the spools by timing the rate at which the tension arms are deflected with the spools operating at different speeds.

    摘要: A ticket validation device that is protected from debris ingression includes a validator housing defining a ticket entry bezel. The ticket entry bezel defines a first and second major sides and shorter connecting regions that connect the two major sides. The device includes an acceptor assembly that transports a ticket to a ticket reader device and at least one flap positioned between the acceptor assembly and the ticket entry bezel. The flap is biased against one of the first major side or the second major side of the entry bezel. A ticket-side of the flap is pushed away from the one of the major sides by the ticket when inserted into the ticket entry bezel such that the ticket scrapes between a distal end of the flap and the one of the major sides to remove any loose debris from the ticket prior to the ticket reaching the acceptor assembly.
