    摘要: A PDP driving method that reduces the reset voltage of the PDP driving waveforms to make it possible to use low-voltage elements and to achieve high contrasts is disclosed. Since conventional PDP waveforms require very high reset voltages, it causes a problem of intense background light emissions, low contrasts, use of high-voltage components, and increased circuit costs. According to the driving waveforms of the present invention, relative voltage differences between the address electrode and the X electrode and between the X electrode and the Y electrode are considered to design waveforms of low reset voltages, thereby providing high contrasts and low-cost circuit.

    摘要: A video display monitor, such as a plasma monitor, which uses a subfield method which overlaps weighted multiple binary video images in a time base for display. The priming scan pulse, the write scan pulse and the sustain pulse train are sequentially shifted on a time basis for each scan signal. To each of the data electrodes connected to the DC type of plasma display panel, a data signal is applied in which, only when the write discharge is not to be generated, is a non-write pulse formed, which offers a turn-off level during an applying period of time for the write scan pulse, and which maintains a turn-on level when the write discharge is to be generated and during other periods of time except the applying period of time for the write scan pulse.

    摘要: A plasma display panel includes stripe-like anodes and barrier ribs on an upper face plate, first sustaining electrodes over the inner surface of a lower rear plate, and stripe-like cathodes on the first sustaining electrodes insulated from the first sustaining electrodes by interposing layers. The stripe-like cathodes are respectively connected to external capacitors via a common node and serve as second sustaining electrodes. In a driving method of the panel, the first sustaining electrode is supplied with a pulse varying from ground potential to a first positive potential, from the positive potential back to ground potential, and then from ground potential to a first negative potential. The second sustaining electrode is supplied with a pulse varying from ground potential to the first negative potential, from the first negative potential back to ground potential, and then from ground potential to the first positive potential. The anode is supplied with a writing pulse varying from a third positive potential to a fourth positive potential for data writing when the pulses of the first and second sustaining electrodes are both at ground potential. The cathode is supplied with a negative scanning pulse varying from a third negative potential to a fourth negative potential. The cathode is supplied with a negative erasing pulse having an amplitude equal to the different between the third and fourth potentials for erasing the written data after a predetermined time has elapsed. Thus, the durability of the plasma display panel can be improved.

    摘要: The dot matrix plasma display of the present invention comprises a plurality of parallel cathode strips mounted on the upper surface of a dielectric substrate. A glass plate is sealingly engaged over the upper surface of the substrate in spaced relation thereto so as to form an envelope therebetween. The undersurface of the glass plate includes a plurality of anode strips which extend in a direction parallel to one another and perpendicular to the cathode strips located on the substrate below. A dielectric film is printed over the cathode strips and includes a plurality of apertures therein which correspond to the junctures between the anode strips and the cathode strips, these junctures forming a dot matrix. Ionizable gas is contained within the envelope and is adapted to glow adjacent the junctures of any simultaneously actuated anode and cathode strips.The method for driving the dot matrix plasma display includes actuating the cathode strips one at a time sequentially. Simultaneously with the actuation of each cathode strip, a pre-selected combination of anodes are also actuated so as to cause the gas to glow adjacent the junctures between the actuated anodes and cathode strips. The cathode strips are scanned at a frequency which to the human eye gives the appearance that they are constantly actuated.
