摘要： High voltage electric cables of the kind having a laminated dielectric comprising lappings of insulating tape impregnated with an insulating liquid enclosed in a liquid-impervious sheath or pipe. Such laminated dielectric is most commonly built up from lappings of paper tape although proposals have been made to use plastics film along or interleaved with paper and it has been proposed that plastics film having on one or both sides an adherent layer of fibrous material should be used. More particularly the invention relates to such a cable in which the insulating liquid is a liquefied gas which, in addition to forming part of the dielectric, acts as a cooling medium thus increasing the cable rating for a given conductor cross-section.

摘要： A direct current, electric, submarine cable which may be used in long lengths and at great depths and which has improved voltage breakdown characteristics with respect to voids which form in the insulation. The cable has a conductor surrounded by an inner semi-conductive screen which is surrounded by cellulose paper tape insulation which is surrounded by an outer semi-conductive screen which is surrounded by a metal sheath. The paper tape is impregnated with a compound comprising a viscous hydrocarbon oil containing a substance having polar groups, the amount of the substance being sufficient to make the volume resistivity of the compound 100 times lower than the volume resistivity of the tape with the compound therein.

摘要： A high voltage electric power transmission line having an electrical power carrying capacity of 50 megawatts or more. An electrical power conductor is contained within a substantially rigid dielectric casing formed of a plurality of elongated tubular glass casing sections hermetically bonded together linearly end to end forming a continuous elongated casing around the conductor. The casing is loosely contained in an outer duct which permits lateral movement of the casing in the duct but places a maximum limit on such movement.
