摘要:
Each user of a telecommunications system may speak and record their own name, in their own voice, and a recording of their spoken name may subsequently be accessed by or delivered to other users of the system, thereby facilitating communication between users by enabling users to better know how to pronounce the names of other users. A user may listen to the recorded spoken name of another user before placing a call to another user. When a user joins a conference call, their spoken name may be announced to other users (attendees) already in the call. A user joining a conference call may listen to the recorded spoken names of attendees in the call. A button on users' phones may invoke these features.

An arrangement for allowing “hands-free” access to DTMF-controlled systems, such as one's voice mail messaging systems, utilizes a speech-to-DTMF tone application that monitors the communication between the user and the DTMF-controlled system. A speech recognition unit is utilized to retrieve certain voice commands (e.g., “next”, “skip”, “repeat”, “forward”, etc.) when uttered by the user. The application then translates the received commands into the proper DTMF tone sequence used by the DTMF-controlled system and transmits the DTMF tones to the system. The application is particularly useful in the cell phone environment and avoids the necessity of the user to constantly switch between using the keypad and listening to messages/commands from the system.

Systems and methods are presented for identifying individuals through facial recognition, voice recognition, or the like, recalling past recorded conversations with the identified individuals, and recording and inventorying conversations with the individuals with mobile devices. In some embodiments, a method is presented. The method may include identifying, at a device, an individual through facial recognition, voice recognition, or a unique RFID. The method may also include recording a conversation with the identified individual, and recalling past relevant recorded conversations based on the identification of the individual, and transmitting the recording of the conversation to a display system configured to display the recording of the event.

A method and a voice-operated arrangement for interacting with a dual-tone multifrequency (DTMF)-controlled system. A record, including representations of DTMF tones and associated with communicating with a remote DTMF-controlled system, is accessed. A communication link between a user voice-communication device and the remote DTMF-controlled system is established through a speech-to-DTMF tone application. A user voice command is translated, using the record, into at least one DTMF tone for interacting with the remote DTMF-controlled system.

Methods, systems and devices for creating special communications or recordings containing messages from family members and the like may be delivered to a recipient in the form of a keepsake type of device that can be used to play the communications when and as many times as desired. The inventions enable a subscriber to provide message(s) to a recipient, including receiving a project subscription, assignment of a mailbox with access number, provision of invitation identification numbers for subscriber's distribution to participants, recording of greeting to be played to communication(s) directed to the mailbox, receiving communication(s), storage of message(s) received as part of the communication(s) in association with the project's mailbox, optimizing the message(s) for subscriber access, notifying subscriber of receipt of or information about message(s), including message(s) on medium(s) or device(s) selected by subscriber that allow playback or transmitting the medium(s) or device(s) with message(s) per subscriber's directions.

A voicemail system includes a voicemail bookmarking procedure that permits users to bookmark voicemail messages during message playback. Upon receiving a bookmark request from a user, the procedure generates a bookmark pointer defining a starting point for subsequent playback of the message. The bookmark pointer can be based, in part, on a timing offset value entered by the user while making the bookmark request. The timing offset value defines a user-selected playback starting point that occurs before the message time at which the bookmark request was made. The value of the timing offset can be user selected.
