    摘要: A weight strap adapted to be mounted circumferentially about the scuba tank of a diver is disclosed which is specifically designed to permit rapid jettisonning of the same in an emergency situation. The weight strap of the present invention is formed to utilize conventional lead diving weights and includes a resilient strap portion designed to provide tension within the strap and tightly maintain the weight strap about the scuba tank. Opposite ends of the strap are provided with a pair of mating, quick release connectors which by way of a single manual motion, may be separated from one another to selectively release the weight strap from the scuba tank.

    摘要: The respective ends of a heavy fabric, for example, a woven dryer fabric or felt each provided with an array of connectong loops are joined with the help of a gap closing device. The gap closing device is detachably attached to the fabric when the latter is supplied to the user. When the fabric is being installed on the machine, the ends are pulled together by the gap closing device so that the arrays of loops are held in proximity and easily intermeshed to form an elongated tubular passage. A pintle wire is inserted into the passage to complete the joint. The gap closing device is then removed. A preferred gap closing device is a slide fastener, of which one tape is detachably attached to each end of the heavy fabric.

    摘要: A separating link and operator particularly adapted as a substitute for the fusible links employed in prior art closure control systems. A first embodiment of the separating link has two link sections whose joinder is controlled by a pull wire latch. One section is a cam link section having an integral ball cam. The second section is a socket link section formed with a socket for receiving the cam in mating relationship. A pair of locks couple the link sections together. The latching engagement of one lock is dependent upon the latching engagement of the other or operating lock. The pull wire latch is connected to a magnetizable armature which reciprocates within a solenoid. Upon deenergization of the solenoid, the pull wire latch is removed from the operating lock thus disengaging this lock. The ball cam then partially separates the two links sections with a resultant disengagement of the dependent lock. Accordingly, the links sections are fully separated in response to external forces applied by a closure, for example. A modification is incorporated within a second embodiment by which each link is a sandwich of elements including a fusible layer. This embodiment thus fully separates in response to excessive heat which causes melting of one or both of the fusible layers, or, alternatively, in response to the removal of the pull wire latch.
