    摘要: A drive apparatus (1) for a fire damper (2) having an electric drive (10), which holds the fire damper in a normal position when power is supplied and moves it into a safety position when no power is supplied. A thermal contact breaker (12) interrupts the power supply to the drive (10) at a melt temperature. The drive apparatus (1) also has a temperature sensor (13) for measuring the air temperature (T), a gas sensor (14) for measuring the content (G) of fumes in the air, and a switch module (15), which interrupts the power supply depending on the values of T and G. In the event of a fire, the fire damper can thus be moved into a safety position not only when the temperature in the region of the thermal contact breaker (12) is high, but already when smoke or gas develops as a result of the fire.

In normal power supply condition, the rolling door is opened by the electric machine mechanism. In case of fire, the brake mechanism releases brake so that the rolling door moves downward by its own weight. However, in an emergency condition, if an external force is applied to push the door upward, the rolling door will be reopened by an assistance of spare electricity to the electric machine mechanism.

    摘要: A portable, wireless, intelligent fire alarm and suppression system is provided for detecting and suppressing a fire in a plurality of locations. The system comprises a portable unit (10) including a sensor (18) for measuring data relating to a characteristic of a fire. A control logic (20) determines the type of fire in response to the data also determines an action for responding to the type of fire. A transmitter (22) wirelessly transmits at least one of the data and the action. A fire suppression element (14) includes one or more fire suppression materials, wherein at least one is actuated in response to the action. The control logic (20) determines a strategy for fighting the fire and may transmit instructions to other portable units to discharge their suppressants. Alternatively, a central control (24) includes a second transmitter/receiver (30) for receiving the at least one of the data and the action from the portable unit (10). A second control logic (26) coupled to the second transmitter/receiver (30) determines a strategy to suppress the fire in response to the at least one of the data and the action, and may transmit instructions to another portable unit (10) for activating a suppressant based on the strategy.

    摘要: An emergency door opening actuator includes electrical switches that are at least one of normally open and normally closed. The electrical switches may be connected accordingly in parallel or in series to terminals of an overhead door operator. The terminals may correspond to a push button circuit, an obstruction sensing circuit, an alarm system circuit, and/or a door opening circuit. The emergency door opening actuator may take advantage of a protocol in the operator to cause the overhead door to open during an emergency condition to facilitate egress. Likewise, the emergency door opening actuator may cause that the overhead door cannot close by signaling the protocol in a predetermined way when the switches are actuated by an emergency condition. The electrical switches may be mechanically actuated when at least one fusible link is broken. The emergency door opening actuator may include an automatic mechanical stop and/or a test release mechanism.

    摘要: A fire escape window system has a fixed outer, peripheral frame set permanently into a window opening of a wall. An inner frame carrying sash units, screens, storm glass, and the like is mounted in the outer frame on a hinge axis. The inner frame pivots from a position weather-sealed across the outer frame to an open position where the opening in the outer frame is unobstructed for emergency personal egress. A latch retains the inner frame in a closed, sealed position but is quickly releasable for swinging of the inner frame to the open position. A spring may be used to bias the inner frame to move automatically to the open position upon release of the latch. A safety alarm signals upon opening of the inner frame. The latch may be electrically operated and, if so, it may be connected for opening the inner frame selectively in conjunction with a smoke or other fire detector which is activated by an emergency condition.

    摘要: The fire damper of this invention is to protect sensitive areas and equipment from fires which originate in the process of a plant. The invention, for example, may have utility in the protection of bag house filters and the like. It will, however, by way of example only, be largely described herein as applied to an electrostatic air cleaner located on a process stack. In recent years such electronic air cleaners, often in the form of a two-stage electrostatic precipitator, have become quite popular. Such apparatus, however, is quite sensitive to high temperatures such as are occasioned by fires and may readily be destroyed when exposed to them. In this invention a temperature rise is sensed by means of electrical detectors and relayed to the control box of the fire damper. Here it is translated into a control signal which actuates mechanism which will withdraw a latch means which supports a vent door whereafter such door falls by means of gravity to block the duct leading to the air cleaner while at the same time venting the plant process air and fire to outside atmosphere. The mechanism which actuates the latch means such as by pulling a steel shaft or pin may be either electrical or pneumatic. A satisfactory electrical mechanism is an electric solenoid that moves the latch or pin release. A satisfactory pneumatic release is one which operates by means of a pressurized gas, preferably a dry and inert gas like nitrogen where there is no risk of freezing or flamability, to operate a pneumatic cylinder-piston arrangement to withdraw the pin which supports the vent door. The vent door is so located and pivoted that, when the latch pin is pulled, it will immediately swiftly move into fire damping position by means of gravity. Fire and heat are then simultaneously vented vertically to atmosphere through that opening in the fire damper thus uncovered by the door in moving to its fire damping position, by virtue of which any possible flashback into the process, due to the failure of a relief damper or the like to open when the duct fire damper door is closed, is prevented.
