Abstract: A security tag assembly structured to prevent the unauthorized removal of merchandise from a given area such as a retail establishment comprising a base and an attachment member. A connector pin is secured to a seat portion of the base and extends outwardly there from into engagement with a locking assembly on an interior of the attachment member. The locking assembly restricts movement of the connector pin outwardly from the attachment member and is structured to be destructively detached from the pin when the base and the attachment member are forcibly separated thereby requiring the attachment member to be disposed of and replaced. The base is re-useable and includes a display field for exposing predetermined merchandise data or other information on an exterior of said base. An RF communication/signaling structure may be combined with the base for tracking and/or alarm activation purposes.

Abstract: One or both ends of the connector bar is extended outwardly beyond the main section of the bar to which the attachments are mounted. The extended end provides access to the clip from the exterior of the attacher housing, permitting the clip to be manually advanced if the feed mechanism fails. An element may be situated on one extended end to facilitate grasping. In a clip having two connector bars, the ends of both bars extend in the same direction. The extended ends may be bent towards each other and may be connected to form a bridge. A second aspect of the invention relates to a connector bar which has an element designed to cooperate with the housing to prevent advancement of the clip all the way through the housing channel, thereby requiring the operator to remove the empty connector bar from the device for better control of disposal.

Abstract: There is disclosed a theft-deterrent tag including a pair of elongated tag members movable between open and closed positions relative to each other. The tag includes a pair of frangible stress-sensitive containers each containing dye. Attempted unauthorized removal of the tag will cause the dye to spill onto merchandise positioned between the tag members. Each container is secured to a respective tag member and flexure of the tag member causes fracture. The elongate tag members are movably connected at one end portion and releasably locked at the other end portion to enable the dye to spill on the merchandise and to shield the thief from the dye. An improved magnetically releasable lock can hold the tag members in the closed position.
