This is a metallic assembly and the rotor and stator also have juxtaposed cavities. The stator cavity being of sufficient size to accommodate a sealing member. The inclined surfaces are flexed with the inclined plane or surface of the rotor forced over the inclined plane or surface of the stator to lock the rotor and stator together with the sealing member enclosed between the rotor and stator. The sealing member does not rotate with the stator. The seal contains at least one labyrinth formed with the rotor and stator, are adjacent each other and lock together.

    摘要: A retainer for the installation of a seal or other component within a machine assembly including concentric first and second machine parts. One of the machine parts is formed as including a gland having a forward end wall and first and second peripheral walls. The first peripheral wall is spaced-apart a first distance from the other machine part and extends intermediate the forward end wall and an open rearward end, with the second peripheral wall being formed contiguously within the first peripheral wall intermediate the forward end wall and the open rearward end. The second peripheral wall is spaced-apart a greater second distance from the opposing machine part, and terminates at a rearward end wall. The retainer has an annular body configured to be receivable intermediate the first and second machine parts. The body extends from a forward end portion receivable within the gland to a rearward end portion configured as defining a plurality of cantilevered segments each extending from a proximal end to a distal end and having a camming surface. The segments are resiliently yieldable responsive to the bearing of the camming surface on the first peripheral wall of the gland to allow the retainer forward end portion to be advanced forwardly through the gland open rearward end. The distal ends of the segments are interferingly engageable with the gland rearward end wall delimiting the rearward movement of the retainer of out the gland.

The sleeve is of a two piece construction which is assembled by a snap fit after the rod has been inserted into one element of the seal so that an enlarged end of the rod may be passed through an opening in the one seal element and the subsequent assembly of the second element achieves a close sliding fit with the unenlarged diameter section of the rod.

    摘要: A bearing seal case has a large circumferential wall which fits into a cylindrical socket in the end of a bearing cup. The circumferential wall includes an enlarged portion which frictionally engages the cylindrical surface of the socket by reason of an interference fit between the two, a reduced portion which tapers inwardly from the enlarged portion and is spaced inwardly from the cylindrical surface of the socket, and a locking bead which projects outwardly beyond the reduced and enlarged portions and into a relief formed in the cup at the end of the socket. To prevent slippage between the seal case and the cup, an elastomeric material is bonded to the reduced portion, and this material is interposed between the cylindrical surface of the socket and the reduced portion in a distorted condition so that it remains firmly engaged with the cup when the normal interference fit between the enlarged portion and the cylindrical socket wall diminishes to the extent that the seal case might otherwise work loose.
