    摘要: A power drill has a rotatable spindle extending from a power-unit housing, a chuck body rotationally fixed to the spindle, a jaw guide carried on the chuck body and rotatable relative thereto about the axis, jaws carried in the chuck body, and a pusher element rotatable about the axis in the chuck body and fixed to and bearing axially on the jaws. Screwthreads between the pusher element and the spindle is effective to move the jaws radially on rotation of the spindle about the axis relative to the guide. A coupling sleeve rotationally fixed to the jaw guide is movable between a tightening position rotationally fixed to the housing for movement of the jaws by the pusher element on rotation of the spindle and a drilling position rotationally fixed to the spindle and rotatable relative to the guide for joint rotation of the guide, jaws, and spindle.

    摘要: A socket and/or insert (6) for accommodating a fastener head is inserted in a screwing attachment (1). The socket and/or insert (6) comprises two jaws (4, 5) which engage in a tubular holder (3) in which they are locked against rotation. The jaws can slide in axial direction relative to the holder (3). In their one end position, the jaws (4, 5) can be forced apart in radial direction for insertion of a fastener head. Under the effect of axial force in the direction of the arrow (23), the jaws (4, 5) are pressed into the holder (3), whereby the jaws are necessarily squeezed toward each other in radial direction by virtue of the tapered camming faces (12, 13), so that the inserted fastener head becomes firmly clamped.

    摘要: A keyless chuck includes a jaw housing with jaws that are advanced in respective guideways to grip a tool bit and retracted to loosen the grip on the tool bit. A jaw thrust member is coupled to the jaws and to a threaded spindle and is forced forwardly or rearwardly to advance or retract the jaws. The threaded chuck spindle engages the jaw thrust member through a small-area contact patch to limit the operating friction and thus provide a chuck which can be readily hand-tightened and which self-tightens in response to torque transmitted through the chuck. A lock mechanism is provided to selectively lock a chuck adjusting sleeve relative to the jaw housing to allow uni-directional movement of the chuck adjusting sleeve relative to the jaw housing or selective bi-directional locking of the chuck adjusting sleeve relative to the jaw housing. The lock mechanism includes a lock plate coupled to a chuck adjusting sleeve and includes a set of teeth on an axial face for engagement with complementary teeth on an axial face of the chuck adjusting nut. The lock plate is normally spring-biased into engagement with the chuck adjusting nut and can be disengaged from the chuck adjusting nut to temporarily disable the locking mechanism. The keyless chuck is assembled in such a way that the run-out of the finished chuck is minimal.

A camming surface (36) on each jaw is engaged by a camming surface (44) on a sleeve (38) of the socket and defines an angle greater than 90.degree. with the path of jaw movement so as to facilitate jaw adjustment and prevent any binding of the jaws during such adjustment.
