Abstract:
A computerized prescription process specifying exercise regimens for a patient's chronic condition aids a physician in formulating a prescription and referring the patient to a facility with suitable fitness and health professionals to implement the exercise regimen as medicine for the condition. The system requires minimal time and inputs to access records and process health data unique to a patient, beginning with identification and chronic health conditions to be treated. The system may integrate information, track compliance, collect and manage health metrics, and communicate to and from a patient through a smart phone, PDA, or other wireless, network-aware device
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of clamping a tool or a workpiece, using an electric actuator (1) having a housing (2) attached to a work spindle of a machine tool and in which a threaded spindle (3) for moving jaws of a chuck is axially displaceable, and an electric servomotor (4) having a rotor connected with a drive wheel (6) that moves a nut (7) on the threaded spindle (3), a first sensor being associated with the threaded spindle (3) for detecting the axial position thereof, and a second sensor being associated with the spindle nut (7) for detecting the axial position thereof, and including the method step of determining the position of the threaded spindle (3) by the first sensor when a slight axial force occurs due to contact of the clamping jaws with the tool or the workpiece, and continued movement of the spindle nut (7) until a specified sensor difference (12) between the first sensor and the second sensor is determined by the second sensor. The invention further relates to an apparatus for carrying out the method.
Abstract:
In order to provide a sealing assembly for a fuel cell stack comprising a plurality of fuel cell units, which are arranged consecutively in a stacking direction, wherein each of the fuel cell units comprises a housing with at least one housing part made of a metallic material, which also has an adequate electrical insulation effect and an adequate mechanical strength at a high operating temperature of the fuel cell stack, it is proposed that the sealing assembly comprises at least one intermediate element made of a metallic material, wherein the intermediate element is soldered to a housing part of a first fuel cell unit at least one location by means of a metal solder and is secured to a housing part of a second fuel cell unit at least another location, wherein the intermediate element and/or the housing part of the first fuel cell unit is provided with a coating made of a ceramic material.
Abstract:
A drill chuck has a chuck body, a holder body, and an outer sleeve surrounding the bodies, with jaws between them. A ring of teeth on one of the bodies can be engaged by a pawl angularly fixed on the other of the bodies. When engaged, the pawl and the array of teeth allow rotate relative to the chuck body in a tightening direction but not in a loosening direction. Respective interengaging stops on the other body and on the outer sleeve limit relative angular movement of the outer sleeve on the other body between a pair of angularly offset end positions. An inner control sleeve has a cam formation engageable with the pawl in only one of the end positions to hold the pawl in the freeing position. The pawl is biased by a spring in the other end position into the locking position.
Abstract:
Flat gasket comprising a first sheet metal layer consisting of a spring steel and a second sheet metal layer consisting of a ductile steel, the first layer being provided with a sealing bead, and the second layer being provided in an edge area bordering on an edge of the layer with a thickened zone as supporting element for receiving pressing forces; to increase the design possibilities for such a supporting element, the latter is formed by at least one elongate arch of the second layer, which is stamped into the edge area of the second layer and extends approximately parallel to the free edge of the edge area, the arch being compressed in such a way that the metal volume of the supporting element is at least three times the total hollow space volume which the supporting element and two tangential planes abutting on the latter and extending parallel to the plane of the second layer include between them.
Abstract:
An exercise console is disclosed as including a housing and a display incorporated into the housing. The display is adapted to align substantially parallel to the top surface of the housing. A tilt mechanism connects the display to the housing and is operable by a user to tilt the display to a nonparallel angle with respect to the housing. In another aspect in accordance with the invention, the exercise console includes a substantially fixed array of buttons incorporated into the housing. The buttons provide to a user various input options which are selectable in a pre-determined sequence by operation of the buttons to program the exercise console. Various indicators are associated with the buttons and inform the user which input options are next available for selection after the user has selected one or more input options.
Abstract:
Flat gasket with a gasket plate which has at least one sheet metal layer which consists of a spring steel sheet, has elastic properties and is provided with at least one bead, which can be deformed elastically in its height and is subject to a dynamic pressure load under conditions of use of the flat gasket, and in order to achieve a greater operative range of the bead without reducing its durability consists of an austenitic steel according to the European standard EN 10088-2-1.4372.
Abstract:
Cylinder head gasket comprising a gasket plate which has at least one metal layer with elastic properties and in which a through opening is formed which is surrounded by a bead-like embossment formed in this metal layer, wherein the bead-like embossment forms an approximately linear, self-contained sealing zone with increased sealing surface pressure when the gasket is fitted and the metal layer is provided with a first coating consisting of a plastic material which has elastic properties on its side forming this sealing zone at least in the area of this sealing zone as well as to both sides of the latter; to improve the sealing capacity of the cylinder head gasket around the said through opening, the metal layer is coated on its side provided with the first coating with a sealing bead closed upon itself, likewise surrounding the through opening and consisting of a plastic material, this bead being arranged on the side of the sealing zone facing away from the through opening as well as at a radial distance from the sealing zone in relation to the through opening, wherein the ridge of the sealing bead is at a greater distance from the metal layer supporting it than the upper side of the first coating.
Abstract:
Flat gasket, in particular, cylinder head gasket with a gasket plate which has at least one aperture and at least one sheet-metal layer which is provided with a bead surrounding the aperture, as well as with a stopper device preventing any excessive bead deformation; so that the sheet-metal layer does not tear even during dynamic pressure loads on the bead in the bead area which accompany a considerable flattening of the bead, the recess formed by the bead is filled over at least a considerable part of its depth with an elastomeric material which has appreciable flow properties under pressure even at ambient temperature (21° C.), i.e. is plastically deformable to a not inconsiderable extent.
Abstract:
A fastener for coupling two relatively thin members having oversized openings therein such as road guard rails which are subject to severe shear loads. The fastener includes a stud having an enlarged head portion and a body portion extending therefrom. The body portion is adapted to pass through the oversized openings and the head is adapted to engage with the surface of the adjacent thin member and is larger than the opening therein. A receptacle is provided which is adapted to interengage and disengage with the stud body between a fastened and unfastened position. At least one spiral cam slot is on the stud body and a corresponding cam surfaces on the receptacle whereby relative rotation between the stud body and receptacle will cause the cam surface to follow the cam slot between the locked and unlocked positions. A spring is positioned to be biased as the cam surface follows the spiral cam slots thereby assisting in drawing the two members into tight interengagement and retaining the stud and receptacle in fastened condition. Finally, a retainer is provided for maintaining proper orientation of the fastener when the members are subjected to a shear load so that the primary load on the fastener is a shear load thereby increasing the load therein capacity of the fastener.
