An adhesive layer is disposed over and secured to the outer surface of the roll core base. A cover is formed of a thermoplastic material, the cover having a thermoset resin infused reinforcement fiber layer, the fiber layer circumferentially surrounding and secured to the adhesive layer, whereby the cover is bound to the rotatable roll core base.

According to one method, a paint carrying medium is secured to a core material to form a composite material having at least one core layer and a paint-carrying layer, wherein the composite material has opposite edges. The opposite edges are positioned adjacent to one another and are secured together. According to an alternative method, a paint-carrying medium having a backing is provided. The backing is treated to an adhering state and is applied to a core while the backing is in the adhering state. According to yet another method, a paint-carrying medium having a backing including opposite edges is provided. The opposite edges are positioned adjacent to one another and are secured to one another. According to an alternative embodiment, a roller cover includes a paint-carrying medium and a core supporting the paint-carrying medium. The core includes a plurality of layers wherein at least two of the plurality of layers have different characteristics.

摘要： A method and apparatus for making reusable paint rollers comprised of a core formed of thermoplastic material. The core is formed by helically winding one or more strips of thermoplastic material about a stationary mandril. A layer of adhesive is then applied to the outer surface of the core whereupon a cover, applied as a strip of material or as blown on fibers, is bonded thereto. The core may also be formed by applying liquefied thermoplastic material to a driven belt which transfers the thermoplastic material to the mandril. The paint roller may also be made by bonding, in a single step, the fabric cover to the wound strip wrapped about the mandril. The cover is then pressed onto the core to form a tight and secure bond therebetween. The mandril may also be cooled to speed the production process

摘要： A method and apparatus for making reusable paint rollers comprised of a core formed from a strip of thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic material is formed into a core by helically winding about a stationary mandril. A layer of adhesive is then applied to the outer surface of the core whereupon a cover is bonded thereto. In a first embodiment the core is formed by winding a plurality of thermoplastic strips about the mandril. In a second embodiment the core is formed by applying liquefied thermoplastic material to a driven belt which transfers the thermoplastic material to the mandril. In yet another embodiment, the paint roller is made by bonding, in a single step, a fabric cover strip to a wound strip wrapped about the mandril.

摘要： A strip-covered roll and the method for manufacturing the same, according to which the roll includes an inner roll body and a plurality of circumferential strip portions surrounding and engaging the inner roll body so as to cover the latter, these circumferential strip portions also engaging each other and being distributed axially along the inner roll body. Each circumferential strip portion has on one side a circumferential groove and on the other side an integral circumferential projection, and the projection of one circumferential strip portion is received in and fills the groove of the next circumferential strip portion, the groove having in its interior a greater transverse dimension than at the side surface of each circumferential strip portion which is formed with the groove, so that in this way the circumferential strip portions are locked to each other. According to the method, the circumferential projection of each circumferential strip portion is initially of a configuration enabling it to enter into the groove of the next circumferential strip portion, and when these strip portions are pressed against each other the circumferential projection is deformed so as to fill the groove and provide the interlock.

摘要： An improvement in a process for constructing a carding or garnetting drum wherein an extension piece is added to extend the length of a smooth surfaced drum and a number of metallic card clothing wires are wound on the drum and extension piece under tension in a multistart helical configuration to form coils, a space being left between each coil. The wires are clamped to prevent them unwinding, and the coils are compressed together and simultaneously moved onto the drum surface only. The extension piece is removed and the wires are permanently attached to the drum. The application is useful in the preparation of drums suitable for fibrillation.
