Abstract: A system for modifying a slot in a rotor includes a drill, a clamp connected to the drill and configured to engage with an interior surface of the slot, and means for supporting the drill from a stationary platform adjacent to the rotor. A method for modifying a slot in a rotor includes connecting a coupling to a stationary platform adjacent to the rotor, connecting a drill to the coupling, and locating the drill proximate to the slot. The method further includes inserting a clamp into the slot, engaging the clamp with an interior surface of the slot, and operating the drill to create a cavity in the slot.

Abstract: So-called decoking, in other words, the emptying of a container in which coke arising from the operation of a refinery is deposited and carried out using a decoking tool with a free mounting on the end of a drilling bar. The mounting is achieved using a sliding guide on a guide plate, coupled to the container. Distortions in the container and the guide plate therewith as a result of temperature variations during operation of the refinery which could lead to function disturbance of the drilling rod are avoided, wherein the sliding guide and the guide plate are arranged with a spring relative deflection by at least one spring element in the manner of a spring damper.

Abstract: A detachably mountable hand drill tool bit holder and static tool presenting apparatus holds a plurality of bits for use with a hand drill tool. The apparatus comprises a horizontally oriented oblong oval shaped receptacle with two parallel sides forming an aperture for receiving and frictionally engaging tool bits. The apparatus is made of a resilient rubber or rubber-like material. The bottom is shaped to be inserted and frictionally engaged by a slot formed in the hand drill tool. The top of the apparatus allows ends of tool bits to extend outward so that each bit is presented and can be easily grabbed for use. Bits are returned to the holder by inserting anywhere there is unoccupied space in the holder by forcing the bit into the space. The size of the holder's oblong oval shaped receptacle is selected to exhibit a width between the two parallel sides that is significantly less than the diameter of the smallest bit. In addition, to insure that the bits remain in place, the wall of the receptacle is lined with a more resilient liner having an inner surface and an outer surface and a thickness and outer perimeter sufficient to engage the wall of the receptacle and an inner surface sufficient when pressed inside the receptacle to frictionally engage the bits inserted therein and release them when pulled out.
