Abstract:
A mechanical press for fine blanking, forming and/or stamping of work pieces has a machine frame provided with a head piece and an O-shaped frame, the head piece receiving in a fixed arrangement a fine blanking or forming head having an upper tool part, a ram provided in the O-shaped frame having a table top for fixing a lower tool part, the ram being actuable along a vertical stroke axis, and a toggle mechanism with a first and second side that is positioned below the ram. The toggle mechanism includes a connecting rod having a substantially equilateral triangle shape with articulation points pivotally attached to arms that pivot about a fixed bearing on the press machine and the ram, respectively, as well as around the connecting rod. Another portion of the connecting rod is attached to synchronous motors through a gear and shaft arrangement at another fixed bearing on the machine press. A computer controller adjusts the motors to equal path-time characteristics.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a motor driven link press which enables working with a heavy press load and also enables a working cycle time to be improved even when a motor with a relatively low output power is used and which can be properly controlled easily. A motor driven link press comprises a link mechanism 1 that converts a rotating operation into a linear operation and a ram 6 that elevates and lowers for press working on the basis of this linear operation. The link mechanism 1 comprises a crank member 2 having a crank shaft 3 and an eccentric shaft portion 4, a pivoting link 5, a connecting rod 7, and a restraining link 8. The pivoting link 5 has a first to third connecting portions P1 to P3 and is connected to the eccentric shaft portion 4 of the crank member 2 using the connecting portion P1. The connecting rod 7 is connected to the second connecting portion P2 and the ram 6. The restraining link 8 is rotationally removably supported on a frame 9 and is connected to the connecting portion P3 to restrain pivoting of the pivoting link 5. A drive transmitting system 14 is provided to transmit driving effected by a motor 13 to the crank shaft 3 of the link mechanism 1. The drive transmitting system can control rotation of the motor 13 to transmit driving effected by the motor 13 so that an elevating and lowering operations of the ram 6 can be controlled.
Abstract:
A bladeless shear for bar stock and tubing comprising axially adjacent stationary and moving dies which receive the stock and produce a shearing action by relative lateral displacement. A linear actuator or an electric motor produces the mechanical movement to rotate the drive wheel in alternatingly opposite directions. A mandrel for insertion into the tube is disclosed as well as an hydraulic tube clamp and an adjustable in-feed table.
Abstract:
A reversible linear hydraulic drive system for a bidirectional supported shear having an adjustable stroke length. A method for improving the quality of the tube ends after shearing using a reversible partial orbital path is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A cutting device to cross cut through an elongate rigid polymeric plastic foam panel member to produce a beveled end to produce depth matting for framing pictures, the device having a base platform with a horizontal support surface to support the panel member on a lengthwise edge, a vertical wall with a vertical slot angled horizontally at a forty-five degree angle extending through the vertical wall and downwardly through the support surface, a slide member guided in a vertical direction to which a knife is attached extending through the vertical slot to a knife guide to provide horizontal support for the blade, and a lever to move the slide member up and down to force the knife to cut the panel member.
Abstract:
A press for performing a work operation on a workpiece including a yoke defining a central bore, a ram mounted for reciprocal movement in the bore and carrying a fabricating tool on one end of the ram, an air cylinder secured to an end wall of the yoke and having a piston rod passing through the end wall of the yoke into the bore, and a force multiplying mechanism interconnecting the free end of the piston rod and the ram and operative to move the ram to a working position and thereafter multiply the force applied to the ram to facilitate the performance of the work operation. The force multiplying mechanism includes a linkage system interconnecting the free end of the piston rod and the ram and including a final link which moves into a position in proximity to the line of action of the ram as the fabricating tool reaches its working position so that subsequent movement of the link toward the line of action has the effect of multiplying the force exerted on the ram and thereby on the fabricating tool carried by the ram.
Abstract:
A cutting device for rubber samples produces constant-volume samples of rubber. The samples are suitable for testing, such as curemeter or rheometer testing, and their constant volume eliminates erratic test results caused by samples which are too large or too small. The device features a sizing mechanism which works in conjunction with a cutter, so as to ensure constant volume samples.
Abstract:
An eccentric press which can be constructed a single connecting rod machine or a twin connecting rod machine is described. The press includes a stroke adjustment means having a support lever which is articulately connected at the joint between the two portions of a lever arrangement. The articulation joint is guided on an adjustable path of movement and the foot point of the support lever is guided variably in its position on a circular arc, the center point of the circular arc coinciding with the position of the articulation point which corresponds to the bottom dead center of the ram. As a result, a change in the ram stroke does not change the bottom dead center of the ram, only one ram stroke being executed per connecting rod revolution.
Abstract:
A drive arrangement for a high speed mechanical press, especially a high speed cutting press, wherein the press drive includes two eccentric shafts connected by connecting rods with a slide. Mass balancing weights are provided for enabling a complete dynamic mass balancing, with the weights being articulated by additional rods and being moved in a direction opposite to the slide. The drive further includes at least three pairs of toggle or knee joint link arrangements, with the first arrangement being nearly horizontally disposed, the second arrangement being nearly vertically disposed, and the third arrangement being nearly vertically disposed and connected on the one hand with the slide and, on the other hand, with the mass balancing weights, with the pairs being arranged symmetrically with respect to the eccentric shafts.
Abstract:
An anvil roll has a steel core and an outer portion of polyurethane. The roll is slightly rotated after a number of veneer clipping operations by a clutch which drives the roll after the roll is pushed by a knife down away from arcuate braking surfaces. An airbag normally urges the roll into engagement with the braking surfaces and is collapsed during adjustment of the roll. Operation of the clutch is prevented during the clipping operation. A double-acting cylinder drives the knife through a toggle joint linkage, and cushioning cylinder means aid in overcoming inertia of the knife at the start of a clipping cycle and also cushion the return of the knife. The cylinder has poppet check valves to rapidly admit air thereto.
