    摘要: A tube cutting apparatus includes an inner blade, a drive shaft, a coupling shaft, a planetary gear, and a ring gear. The outer blade has an inner peripheral surface which contacts an entire circumference of an outer periphery of a work W so as to cover a predetermined axial range of the outer periphery. The drive shaft is rotatably supported inside the work W coaxially with the work W and defines a bore therethrough at a position decentered by a predetermined amount within the drive shaft. The coupling shaft is rotatably supported in the bore. The inner blade is rotatably retained on an eccentric shaft decentered at a front end portion of the coupling shaft and is positioned inside the work W. The planetary gear is positioned outside the work W and fitted on a rear end portion of the coupling shaft coaxially and meshes with the ring gear.

    摘要: A trim die for sheet metal or other materials is provided to trim the entire circumference of a drawn part. The trim die includes a trim plate with a connected trim punch moveably mounted in a stripper plate. Cam punches with cam lobes engage cam followers on the trim plate to impart motion to the trim die. The trim die of the present invention minimizes displacement of the part to be trimmed, including the excess material, and therefore is compatible with progressive dies. The corresponding method of trimming a part is also provided.

    摘要: An apparatus (400) for facilitating the removal of a tube stub from a drum includes an arbor (401) configured to extend within the tube stub to be removed, and a circular, rotating cutter (402) protruding from the arbor (401). The cutter (402) is configured to score an internal surface of the tube stub along an axial direction of the tube stub. A controller (403) associated with the apparatus (400) controls the axial and rotational movement of the arbor (401) to create one or more cuts in the tube stub to facilitate removal of the tube stub from the drum.

    摘要: A method of cutting a piece of pipe from a length of pipe in a cutting plane by gripping the length of pipe directly adjacent the cutting plane and displacing the piece of pipe with respect to the length of pipe in the cutting plane, comprises applying a radially outwardly directed and a radially inwardly directed pressure against the length of pipe and the piece of pipe in the cutting plane and at both sides thereof, simultaneously applying an axial pressure, the pressures generating a stress amounting to at least 70% of the yield point of the material of the pipe, and maintaining the pressures during the entire cutting operation. A device for carrying out this method is also disclosed.

    摘要: A shearing apparatus for bar stock comprising a fixed die and a movable die wherein the movable die comprises a shearing ring carried by an arm at a location intermediate the ends of the arm, an eccentric fixed on a driven shaft is journalled in one end of the arm, and the other end of the arm includes a slot which receives a rotationally mounted slide block so that the slot and slide block coact to accommodate combined rotary and translatory movement of that end of the arm. The described arrangement produces an elliptical loop movement of the movable die relative to the fixed die to cleanly shear the stock. Also disclosed is a novel mandrel assembly including a pair of plug members adapted to be positioned within tubular stock to be cut wherein one of the plug members is mounted for selective radial excursion during the shearing operation to accommodate the eccentric movement of the movable die.

    摘要: A one-piece metallic can body positioned stationary on a mandrel has a can body open end trimmed by cutting a scrap ring therefrom which, after such trimming, still surrounds portions of the trimmer mechanisms. During the can body trimming, the can body open end portion ultimately forming the scrap ring, although stationary during trimming, is received in slotted scrap positioners of diametrically opposite, constantly rotating nipper assemblies with the scrap ring immediately being rotated by the scrap positioners upon complete severance from the can body. As the nipper assemblies rotate rotating the now severed scrap ring, the nipper assemblies are actuated, one at a time, by an actuator at a set circumferential location, the nipper assemblies having nipper rods cammed reciprocally inwardly along the scrap positioners to cut the scrap ring into two separated parts. As soon as the scrap ring parts are separated, they are urged outwardly by centrifical force away from the trimmer components and ultimately fall downwardly into a scrap disposal chute. A constantly rotating, peripherally threaded, scrap removal cylinder is positioned inwardly of the nipper assemblies and trimmer mechanisms for constantly urging any portions of the scrap ring or pieces axially away from the trimmer mechanisms in the event they are displaced inwardly thereagainst.
