    摘要: Apparatus for a planter, and particularly one suitable for use in planting trees, shrubs or other woody perennials, is described. Specifically, this apparatus comprises a supporting member, having two ends and being longer than a maximum distance across the top of the planting hole, which lies on the ground and straddles the top of the planting hole; a holding device for securing the plant to the supporting member at a position intermediate these two ends, and earth anchors for securing the supporting member to the ground on at least one side of the planting hole to prevent the planter from rotating over the hole. Furthermore, the supporting member may comprise a center section and a number of coaxially aligned telescoping sections, each of which can be placed in one of a number of different positions in order to easily increase or decrease the length of the planter. This allows the planter to be used with a wide variety of differently sized planting holes.

    摘要: In a planting device for attaching to an agricultural vehicle a planting slide is mounted on a frame for reciprocating sliding motion horizontally in the direction of travel of the vehicle under the influence of a hydraulically operable pressure cylinder. A support plate is mounted on the slide for sliding adjustment vertically, upwards and downwards, and a hollow, funnel-shaped planting spade is pivotally mounted on the support plate on an axis which extends transversely to the direction of travel of the vehicle.The tip of the spade is held in a forwardly directed pivoted rest position by means of a pre-stressed spring, but upon rearward pivotting of the spade, as occurs in operation when the support plate slides down so that the spade penetrates the ground, a control valve having a stem articulated to the spade activates the pressure cylinder to push the slide rearwards on the slide. The spade thus remains steady in the same position, despite forward movement of the vehicle, so a plant can reliably be embedded via the spade, without formation of a furrow possible causing its later dislodgement.

    摘要: An apparatus and methods are provided for transplanting slips with an automated slip transplanter. The transplanter comprises a planter unit, a singulation unit, a conveyor belt, a node sensor, and a controller. The planter unit is configured to plant consistent rows of evenly spaced slips in a field. The singulation unit comprises automated grippers and slip cartridges, and is configured to continuously singulate harvested slips stored in the slip cartridges. The conveyor belt is configured to receive the singulated slips from the automated grippers with brushed holders, and transfer the received slips on a belt to the planter unit. The node sensor is configured to autonomously collect performance data of the singulated slips in real-time. The controller is communicatively coupled to the node sensor, and configured to implement operational modes and dynamically adjust a planting slip rate based on the operational modes and performance data collected by the node sensor.

    摘要: A planter is moved through a field to place two rows of four plants on the top of a planting bed between adjacent irrigation furrows. The tray carrying the transplants is registered horizontally and vertically to a plug receiving cylinder by respective cams and a supporting chain. Upon registry, polymer plugs containing sprouted plants therein are ejected, typically eight at a time, by ejecting fingers penetrating the plant receiving holes. Ejection occurs with the plants horizontally disposed into receiving concavities defined within a rotating cylinder. Rotation of the cylinder drops the ejected plants into receiving funnels, one for each plant. Plant downward travel halts at a reciprocating plate. Insertion of the plug into the ground begins with penetration of the ground by a dibble spike followed by circumscribing penetration of a dibble tube around the spike. When the spike is withdrawn, the plant is reciprocated into registry with the dibble tube and the plant blown under pressure down to the bottom of the dibble tube. With the air pressure applied, the dibble tube is retracted, leaving the plant in its wake.

[Also in Division B8] Plants uprooted for transplantation are stored by enclosing the roots in a soilless cultivation medium in a container formed of organic material penetrable by the roots so that the whole may be buried in soil at transplantation thus avoiding root disturbance. The container may be formed of a fibrous medium or simply a fine mesh plastics sleeve tied off above and below the roots. A net sleeve may enclose the container which in this case may be formed as a corrugated cardboard truncated conical wall member holding the medium round the roots. The wider end of the wall member is downwards. The root package is dipped in nutriment liquid and may be enclosed in a plastics bag prior to storage, the bag neck being held round the plant stem by an elastic band. The cardboard could be perforated.
