    摘要: A method of forming ligated nanoparticles of the formula Y(Z)x where Y is a nanoparticle selected from the group consisting of elemental metals having atomic numbers ranging from 21-34, 39-52, 57-83 and 89-102, all inclusive, the halides, oxides and sulfides of such metals, and the alkali metal and alkaline earth metal halides, and Z represents ligand moieties such as the alkyl thiols. In the method, a first colloidal dispersion is formed made up of nanoparticles solvated in a molar excess of a first solvent (preferably a ketone such as acetone), a second solvent different than the first solvent (preferably an organic aryl solvent such as toluene) and a quantity of ligand moieties; the first solvent is then removed under vacuum and the ligand moieties ligate to the nanoparticles to give a second colloidal dispersion of the ligated nanoparticles solvated in the second solvent. If substantially monodispersed nanoparticles are desired, the second dispersion is subjected to a digestive ripening process. Upon drying, the ligated nanoparticles may form a three-dimensional superlattice structure.

    摘要: The refinish compositions contain an acetoacetate resin based on a monomeric polyol or a hydroxy-functional oligomer of such a polyol; a blocked polyamine (polyketimine and/or polyaldimine), pigment, and alkyd polymer. The alkyd is not reactive toward the acetoacetate resin or the blocked polyamine. The refinish compositions may be prepared from an intermix system that has a plurality of color bases and an unpigmented component. Each color base includes the alkyd resin and one or more pigments dispersed with the alkyd resin. The unpigmented component includes at least one of the acetoacetate-functional resin or the blocked polyamine. A drier for the alkyd resin may be included in one of the components or in a separate, additional component.

    摘要: An excellent antibacterial property is afforded upon a metallic article by simple steps of coating a dispersion liquid or a solution of fine particles made of an antibacterial ingredient on the surface of the metallic article and pressing the resulting coated surface of the metallic article under a non-heated condition or rubbing the resulting coated surface of the metallic article. In addition, a conventional rolling step or the like can be used itself without any change in the above treatment, which is economically extremely advantageous. Furthermore, since the antibacterial metallic article according to the present invention is obtained under the non-heated condition, the antibacterial ingredient is not deteriorated. Further, since the antibacterial property is not lost through some abrasion, excellent antibacterial property can be exhibited over an extended time period. Further, there is no fear that surface characteristics of the metallic article, for example, a tone of color will change.
