摘要: Systems and methods include providing a coated abrasive article with a substrate formed from a plurality of hygroscopic fibers, an abrasive layer comprising a make coat, a size coat, a supersize coat, or combinations thereof disposed on a first side of substrate, and an anti-curl layer disposed on a second side of the substrate. The polymer-based anti-curl layer allows the coated abrasive article to achieve a change in curl between −5 millimeters and 25 millimeters, the change in curl being expressed as the curl of the coated abrasive article in millimeters at 90% relative humidity minus the curl of the coated abrasive article in millimeters at 20% relative humidity. The coated abrasive article exhibits substantially no loss of grinding performance, burst speed, or a combination thereof as compared to coated abrasive articles free of the anti-curl layer.

摘要: A composite abrasive paper has at least three surfaces which polished and ground to improve the utilization rate of the abrasive paper and reduce the cost of grinding and polishing abrasive tools. The abrasive paper comprises a first abrasive comprising a first substrate, a first stereo particle layer provided on a surface of the first substrate, a flexible microsphere layer provided on a back surface of the first substrate; a second abrasive comprising a second substrate, a second stereo particle layer provided on surface of the second substrate, a third stereo particle layer provided on a back surface of the first substrate; the first and second abrasive are connected at an edge to form a connection part, the middle non-connection part of the first substrate and the second substrate forms a sealed cavity, the third stereo particle layer is provided opposite to the flexible microsphere layer in the sealed cavity.

摘要: A sanding system is presented that includes a tool with a motor which, when actuated, drives movement of a drive shaft. The system also includes a backup pad coupled to the drive shaft. The backup pad is configured to receive an abrasive article. Movement of the drive shaft causes movement of the abrasive article. The system also includes a compliant damping unit configured to provide variable compliance for the tool when the abrasive article contacting a worksurface. The system also includes an electronic controller that receives a system operating condition and sends a signal to the compliant damping unit based on the system operating condition.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to an abrasive article construction containing an anti-loading composition which significantly reduces loading, is coatable, is durable, and is relatively inexpensive to manufacture. In particular, the use of the anti-loading compositions of the present disclosure as a size coat at least reduces if not eliminates the need for a supersize coat, while offering comparable if not superior performance and durability. In one aspect, the present disclosure provides an abrasive article including a backing with a first major surface and an opposing second major surface, an abrasive layer bonded to at least a portion of the first major surface, with the abrasive layer comprising abrasive particles retained in a make coat. The abrasive article further includes an anti-loading size layer comprising a size coat binder and wax at least partially disposed on the abrasive layer.

摘要: A method of making a coated abrasive article is disclosed. A backing has first and second opposed major surfaces. A make layer precursor is disposed on at least a portion of the first major surface. Magnetizable abrasive particles are disposed onto the make layer precursor while under the influence of an applied magnetic field. At least a majority the magnetizable abrasive particles extend away from the make layer precursor in an orientation substantially aligned with the applied magnetic field. Non-magnetizable particles are then disposed onto the make layer precursor while under the influence of the applied magnetic field. At least some of the non-magnetizable particles are disposed between the magnetizable abrasive particles. Then, the make layer precursor is at least partially cured to provide a make layer.

摘要: A polishing pad including a damping layer made of a resilient material including expanded semi-rigid polyurethane having a microcell structure, an adhesive layer including a layer of a hook-and-loop fastener adapted to interact and connect to a corresponding layer of the hook-and-loop fastener located at a bottom surface of the working element of the machine tool and a polishing layer including microfiber adapted for polishing a surface of a work piece. The polishing layer includes a fabric having a woven mesh of microfibers that define a back side of the polishing layer. The fabric serves as a barrier to the resilient material of the damping layer such that the resilient material does not reach an active side of the polishing layer comprising the microfibers when the damping layer, adhesive layer and polishing layer are combined, and such that the active side of the polishing layer is free of resilient material of the damping layer.

摘要: Methods, apparatus and systems for polishing an optical component having an aspheric or freeform surface are described. In one example aspect, a polishing device includes a solid plate and a container coupled to the solid plate. The container encloses a non-Newtonian material that exhibits a solid-like and a fluid-like behavior based on a frequency of a stress applicable to the non-Newtonian material. The device also includes a layer of viscoelastic polymer adhered to the container to polish the optical component. The layer of viscoelastic polymer comprises one or more segments positioned according to a shape of the solid plate.
