Abstract: Abrasive articles, along with related compositions and methods, are provided. A first aspect relates to an abrasive article comprising a backing and an abrasive layer disposed on a major surface of the backing. The abrasive layer comprises a particulate mixture comprising formed abrasive particles and diluent abrasive particles. Based on the overall weight of the particulate mixture, about 0 wt. % to less than 10 wt. % formed abrasive particles having a substantially monodisperse particle size of from about 80 micrometers to about 120 micrometers; and about greater than 90 wt. % to about 99 wt. % diluent abrasive particles having a median particle size of from about 50 micrometers to about 250 micrometers

Abstract: Abrasive articles, along with related compositions and methods, are provided. The abrasive articles include a backing, abrasive layer, and supersize coat that includes calcium stearate and an ammonium salt of a modified styrene acrylic polymer. The supersize coat can be dried to a translucent film at temperatures well below the melting temperature of the binder without need for a surfactant. Advantageously, these abrasive articles can reduce swarf accumulation during an abrading operation and enhance cut performance while achieving a high degree of optical clarity.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to an abrasive article construction containing an anti-loading composition which significantly reduces loading, is coatable, is durable, and is relatively inexpensive to manufacture. In particular, the use of the anti-loading compositions of the present disclosure as a size coat at least reduces if not eliminates the need for a supersize coat, while offering comparable if not superior performance and durability. In one aspect, the present disclosure provides an abrasive article including a backing with a first major surface and an opposing second major surface, an abrasive layer bonded to at least a portion of the first major surface, with the abrasive layer comprising abrasive particles retained in a make coat. The abrasive article further includes an anti-loading size layer comprising a size coat binder and wax at least partially disposed on the abrasive layer.
