Abstract:
In one embodiment, a method for making a high density structural composite includes depositing a plurality of fibrous materials on or adjacent a first plate or surface. A polymer liquid is deposited onto the plurality of fibrous materials to form a composite mixture. A first cyclic pressure is applied onto the composite mixture to compress the composite mixture. In some embodiments, the cyclic pressure may then be reduced to a valley pressure to complete a pressurization cycle. In some instances, the valley pressure may be below atmospheric pressure to induce trapped air and volatile gases to escape from the composite mixture before curing. The pressurization cycle may be repeated. A second pressure, which may be a constant pressure in some embodiments, may be applied to the composite mixture using, in some embodiments, a second plate until the polymer liquid has at least partially cured or partially solidified.

A method of manufacturing crop straw fiber board includes the following steps: (1) mashing and choosing the straws with the length of 10-40 mm and the moisture content of 20%-30% as raw materials; (2) sending the raw materials into a digester (5) to digest and soften the straws; (3) sending the raw materials into a defiberator (7) and grinding to obtain straw fibers; (4) sending the straw fibers into a liquid applying system to mix with the adhesive, then drying with hot wind; (5) paving the straw fibers, then pre-pressing to obtain a plate blank with the thickness of 30-180 mm; (6) sending the plate blank into No. 1 hot press (8) to dehydrate; (7) sending the plate blank to No. 2 hot press (9) to adhere the plate blank; (8) sending the plate blank to No. 3 cold press (10) to shape the plate blank; (9) trimming and sanding the plate blank to obtain the fiberboard. Any crop straws could be used for the method.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a wood polymer/plastic composite material having a transparent surface layer which can enhance physical properties of a product by additionally providing the transparent surface layer on the outer surface of the wood polymer/plastic composite material through an application of a multi-extrusion process. To this end, the present invention includes: an inner layer (11) manufactured by using a compound in which one or a plurality of wood flour, wood chips, and long fiber, which are main materials, are selectively introduced and mixed; and a surface layer (12) formed on the outer surface of the inner layer (11). According to the present invention, the physical properties of the product can be enhanced by additionally providing the transparent surface layer on the outer surface of the wood polymer/plastic composite material through an application of the multi-extrusion process, and the advantages of preventing slipping, surface scratches, and pollution can be provided.

Abstract:
The invention pertains to a method of manufacturing a fire proof board from strands of wood, the method comprising the following steps in the given order: (a) providing strands of wood, (b) immersing the strands of wood in a watery solution of a flame retardant chemical composition, (c) separating the strands of wood from each other, (d) at least in part drying the strands of wood, (e) applying an adhesive to the strands of wood, and (f) forming a board of a predetermined shape from the strands. The invention furthermore pertains to a board formed by a plurality of strands of wood that are compressed and bonded together with an adhesive, wherein the board further comprises a flame retardant chemical composition, said composition comprising a phosphate compound.
Abstract:
A system for improving wood strand orientation in a wood strand orienter having a plurality of orienter disks. The system includes a plurality of axially-spaced, parallel pre-orienting shafts positioned in a second plane above and substantially parallel to the orienter disks, each one of the pre-orienting shafts having a plurality of wheels mounted thereon. Each of the wheels has a hub and a plurality of outwardly-extending finger members. When the pre-orienting shafts are positioned over the disks, each one of the finger members passes, in turn, through a portion of the volume defined between the two adjacent orienter disks the wheel sits between. This permits bridged wood strands to be turned and straightened, reducing the null% oversnull, the percentage of strands bridging the orienter disks and carried across the top of the orienter without falling through the orienter.
Abstract:
A roller sifting or dispersing machine for the classification or dispersing of wood chips, fibers, or similar materials and to the utilization of an above-described roller sifting or dispersing machine. The roller sifting machine includes annular grooves and annular crosspieces. An outer sheathing surface of each annular crosspiece is provided with adjoining teeth in the circumference direction. The front tooth-side in the direction of rotation is steeper than the adjoining tooth back-side. The crosspiece and teeth of a roller also form a gradient that is opposed to the adjacent roller but has the same gradient height. The leading tooth sides of the circulating teeth create a pitching effect on the particles of the material to be sifted so that clogging of the roller set are avoided and an accelerated movement towards the exit end is achieved. By the continuous opposing movement of the teeth, clogging of these openings for the passage of chips is avoided. Also, the separation effectiveness can be regulated by modification of the roller revolution speed.
Abstract:
Apparatus for aligning and orienting generally elongate objects of irregular shape and variable dimensions such as wood residue. The apparatus includes a plurality of spaced, rollers to transport the objects in a direction of transport from an inlet zone through a sorting zone to an outlet zone by rotation of the rollers. There are a plurality of aligning walls extending over the rollers parallel to the direction of transport from the outlet zone toward the inlet zone. There are also eccentric vanes mounted to some of the rollers to rotate with the rollers to move through the objects on the rollers. Objects introduced into the inlet zone in a generally random, entangled collection are aligned and oriented in the direction of transport into generally, parallel, stacked relationship at the outlet zone by movement over the rollers between the aligning walls subject to the action of the eccentric vanes. The apparatus is particularly suited for organizing a random pile of loose and tangled wood debris into an aligned and organized stream of wood pieces for further processing.
Abstract:
Strand lay-up system produces a layered strand lay-up from separate feed bins and then deposits incremental lengths of the so formed layered lay-up over discrete selected area to form a more homogenous lay-up.
Abstract:
A vane typed orienter is formed by a plurality of spaced parallel shafts having radial extending axially spaced disks mounted thereon. Passages are formed between the disks and adjacent disks on adjacent shafts define sides of such passages. A vane element is provided to complete the wall formed by a pair of adjacent disks forming one wall of a passage and at least substantially fills the lower gap formed between the peripheries of the adjacent disks forming the one wall.
