Abstract:
A method of making a skin of an interior trim part and an interior trim part made according to the process. A male mold having a convex portion is used to form a skin having a uniform thickness that is sprayed on the surface of the mold. The surface of the mold has a grain pattern that is transferred to a skin. The skin is allowed to flash off or partially cure before being removed from the male mold. The skin is then turned inside out with the exterior surface being inverted to form a convex portion of the skin. The skin is placed into a female mold having a concave portion against which the convex portion of the skin is placed. Foam is injected into the inverted skin while in a female mold and is cured to form an interior trim part.
Abstract:
A mold apparatus and method for forming a shaped laminate in one step are provided where the laminate includes a cladding layer and a foam backing layer. The apparatus includes a male mold half matable to a female mold half that define a mold cavity. An inlet is mounted on the mold apparatus for introducing foamable materials into the mold cavity. Edge folding members, carried by one of the mold halves, movable from a retracted position to an extended position, fold the cladding layer over at least part of the edge of the foam backing layer. Trim blades are located adjacent to the edge folding members movable from a retracted position adjacent the cavity to an extended position engaging the other mold half to sever the cladding layer to define the finished shape of the laminate.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a double-walled vessel comprises: a) providing an inner hollow body (5); b) mounting the inner hollow body (5) in a rotational mould (1) with the external surface of the inner body spaced from the internal surface of the mould; and c) rotationally moulding a hollow plastics outer body around, and spaced from the inner body in such a manner as to join the inner and outer bodies together at at least one predetermined location.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a composite product, such as a furniture element, where a core is encapsulated in and enveloped by a foamed plastic material (3) in a mould (4). The composite product is manufactured by using as a core (1) a supporting element, which is either integrated in the composite product or removed after the moulding of the product is completed. Alternatively the core (1) may be composed of support elements in the mould. Furthermore, there may be attached to the core a covering plate (2) made of a plastic material with greater density than the foamed plastic envelop (3) and the covering plate (2) may be enclosed by foamed plastic (3) by means of moulding. The invention further comprises a moulded composite product, for example a furniture element. The composite product comprises a plate-shaped rigid core (1) encapsulated in a body of foamed plastic by fixing to the core at least one covering plate (2) of plastic material, which has greater density than the surrounding foamed plastic material (3).
Abstract:
A method for making an expanded shoe sole includes the steps of (a) molding a first foamable material to form an unexpanded sole blank, and cooling the unexpanded sole blank to harden the unexpanded sole blank, (b) positioning the hardened unexpanded sole blank on a first mold, (c) heating a second mold to a molding temperature, (d) positioning assembly of the hardened unexpanded sole blank and the first mold in the second mold, (d) filling a second foamable material in the second mold prior to expansion and cross-linking of the hardened unexpanded sole blank, and (e) thermally molding the second foamable material and the hardened unexpanded sole blank in the second mold.
Abstract:
A method for forming a headliner assembly includes forming a main body having a periphery, and a shape corresponding to a desired shape of the headliner assembly; positioning the main body in a mold having a recess; closing the mold; and injecting foam into the recess to simultaneously form an energy absorbing member and join the energy absorbing member to the main body proximate the periphery of the main body.
Abstract:
A manufacturing method for a refrigerator door is disclosed. The method uses only a transparent plastic layer to make the refrigerator door. The present invention can simplify the manufacturing process, and reduce the number of parts required for the refrigerator door to reduce costs. Furthermore, an appearance pattern on the refrigerator door can be painted or printed onto the surface of the transparent plastic layer with different types, and a male mold of a vacuum forming machine can provide different shapes to make the refrigerator door into variety shapes. Moreover, because the appearance pattern can be painted or printed on the inner surface of the transparent plastic layer, the appearance pattern will not come off because of frequent touching.
Abstract:
Injection molding encapsulation processes for packaging an object or objects in microcellular foamed material, comprising the steps of providing a mold having a mold cavity, positioning at least one object in the mold cavity, providing a packaging material, introducing a fluid into the packaging material under conditions sufficient to produce a supercritical fluid-packaging material solution, introducing the solution into the mold cavity, and converting the solution into a microcellular foamed material. Such processes are advantageously employed in encapsulation of electronic or electrical components. Packaged objects produced therefrom may be completely or partially encapsulated.
Abstract:
A method for forming an integrated trim plate in a single processing step. An appliqu null section is reversibly securing to the lower section of a mold. A layer of thermoplastic covering is applied onto and over the appliqu null section and lower section of the mold. A layer of foam is then injected between the thermoplastic covering and a substrate used to secure the integrated trim plate within a structure such as an automobile frame. The appliqu null section may be magnetically secured to the lower section of the mold or may be physically secured within a forming section of the lower section.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing a molded product with an improved quality. A metal core is set at a predetermined position in a mold. Then, the mold is closed, a first liquid containing a releasing agent and a solvent is injected into the cavity, and the cavity is depressurized. This forms a uniform releasing agent layer on the wall surface of the cavity. Then, a mold-coat layer, which provides a surface layer of the molded product, is formed on the releasing agent layer, a molding material for forming a molding layer is injected in the cavity, and the mold is opened.
