    摘要: Apparatus for manufacturing an at least partly tubular body, provided with an elastic sealing ring accomodated in an internal groove in said member. In a moulding cavity of a mould first the tubular member is formed of plastic synthetic material, thereafter an annular cavity is arranged in the mould adjacent the outer surface of the body and subsequently a pressurized thermoplastic deformable material is brought against the inner surface of said body which material is an elastomer at the temperature of its normal use. Thereby the body is forced into the annular cavity and is simultaneously forming the internal groove, which is filled with elastomeric material.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for molding plastic articles, wherein the method includes the steps of filling a mold cavity at a first station with heated flowable plastic material under relatively low pressure from a first pressure source and then displacing the mold to a second station where the plastic material is cooled under pressure from a second pressure source. During the displacing step, the mold is conveyed along an arcuate path and the mold orientation is maintained. The apparatus includes a cantilevered core pin concentrically positioned in the mold cavity and a set of radially biased neck rings which preferably open automatically under a constant biasing force to release the neck of a molded article after the core pin is withdrawn from the article.

    摘要: Thermometer probe covers having an extremely thin wall integral tip for enhanced heat transfer are injection molded by unique mold core construction and venting configuration. A tungsten carbide core minimizes core deflection to maintain improved concentricity of core and cavity. Maintainance of concentricity in quantity production apparatus is improved by a combination of relatively loose cantilevered mounting of an end of the core together with a press fit locking of the core upon closing of the mold. Venting of cavity gas during injection of mold material is precisely controlled through symmetrically distributed vent orifices in both the core and the female mold part. Core venting is controlled by a plurality of orifices and a manifold provided by a water cooled core vent pin within a bore of the core.

    摘要: In making a frusto-conical container from a blank which is seamed at juxtaposed edges by injection molding, the resiliency of the material arising from compression at the concave face on bending the blank is reduced by deforming the material in that face by means of the tools between which the blank is clamped for the injection molding. Thereby the strain on the seam and tendency to go out of shape due to the resilience are reduced.

    摘要: Method in which an expandable internal shoulder forming member assembly to be used for forming a headpiece onto a preformed thin-walled plastic or laminate tube or bag provides a internal shoulder forming member upon which the loose fitting preformed thin-walled tube can be loaded. After tube loading, the internal shoulder forming member is inserted into a female forming member. Toward the end of the internal shoulder forming member's insertion stroke, a internal neck forming member which is mounted for axially movement within the head end of the internal shoulder forming member contacts the female forming member and then partially retracts into the head end of the internal shoulder forming member as the internal shoulder forming member continues to advance to the end of its insertion stroke. A conically-shaped washer mounted on the bottom end of the internal neck forming member is peripherally expanded by the continued advancement of the internal shoulder forming member after the top end of the internal neck forming member has contacted the female forming member. As the internal shoulder forming member reaches the end of its forward stroke, which will be the closed position of the internal shoulder forming member relative to the female forming member, the expanding periphery of the washer makes contact with the preformed tube body at a location below the portion of the tube body which extends beyond the internal shoulder forming member to effect a tight sealing fit between the internal shoulder forming member, the tube body and the female forming member to define a mold cavity in which the headpiece to the tube body may be formed.

    摘要: This invention decreases the time required to cool a plastic article, in a blow molding cavity, by circulating a mist in the inside of the blown article. Globules of liquid in the mist contact with the inside surface of the blown article. Preferably this liquid evaporates and removes its latent heat evaporization from the plastic surface. This removes more heat per unit of time than is removed with a breeze of dry air flowing in the blown article. The article is cooled so that it is stiff enough to remove sooner from the blow mold. The mist can be followed by dry air to remove any lingering liquid from a blown container.

The injection is done by means of cavities in an injection cavity mold having a short synchronized travel with each blow cavity mold in turn, the blow mold cavities thereafter closing, the molded articles being formed by air under pressure directed through the cores into the parisons; curing (cooling), ejecting, and completing the closed path for continuous production without the use of intermittent steps.
