Abstract:
A vehicle wheel having a rim part to which a tire is mounted and a vehicle body attachment part which is attached to a vehicle body, in which the rim part has, on an inner circumferential surface thereof, a plurality of fins each having a heat dissipation surface, and in which the fins are arranged periodically along a circumferential direction.
Abstract:
A wheel rim for a vehicle including a first rim portion including a first wheel flange, a second rim portion threadedly connected to the first rim portion, and a second wheel flange held on the first rim portion.
Abstract:
A wheel assembly has a rim with an outer radial surface. A tire coupled to the rim defines a first interior region between the outer radial surface and the tire. A bladder coupled to the rim defines a second interior region between the outer radial surface and the bladder. A third interior region is defined between the bladder and the tire. The wheel assembly includes a valve fluidly coupled to the second interior region and the third interior region. The valve is movable between a first position and a second position. The second interior region and the third interior region are fluidly isolated from one another when the valve is in the first position. The second interior region and the third interior region may be fluidly coupled to one another when the valve is in the second position.
Abstract:
A wheel includes an inner wheel half defining a plurality of inner bolt apertures and having a mating surface. The wheel also includes an outer wheel half defining a plurality of outer bolt apertures and having an inner surface. The plurality of outer bolt apertures are configured to be aligned with the plurality of inner bolt apertures such that each of a plurality of bolts may be received by one of the plurality of outer bolt apertures and one of the plurality of inner bolt apertures, forming a seal between the mating surface and the inner surface in response to each of the plurality of bolts being tightened. In response to a predetermined number of bolts becoming loose, a first portion of the mating surface may separate from a second portion of the inner surface, breaking the seal.
Abstract:
Systems and methods disclosed herein may be useful for use in a wheel assembly. In this regard a wheel assembly may comprise a wheel base with a center axis, a side rim disposed about a circumference of the wheel base, wherein the side rim includes a frustoconical radially inward surface, and a lock ring comprising a single unitary member. The lock ring may secure the side rim onto the wheel base, the lock ring preventing the side rim from sliding axially with respect to the wheel base, wherein a frustoconical radially outward surface of the lock ring comprises a first angle with respect to the frustoconical radially inward surface of the side rim.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an aircraft wheel comprising a rim and a tire (20) received on the rim, the rim comprising two parts (1; 2) assembled with one another by means of assembly bolts (5), one of the parts comprising a recess (3) in which is arranged a seal (4) which is interposed between the two parts, the wheel being characterized in that at least one of the parts comprises at least one duct (6) extending beneath the seal so as to establish a leakage path between on one hand a volume of gas delimited by the rim and the tire, and on the other hand a space between the parts, the path being nominally closed by the seal when the bolts are tightened correctly but allowing gas to leak from said volume when the bolt associated with said opening is not tightened correctly or is absent.
Abstract:
In one or more embodiments, a resonator device includes a first chamber including a first leg portion extending in a longitudinal direction and a first shoulder extending in a transverse direction, and a second chamber positioned next to the first chamber at least partially along the longitudinal direction. The second chamber may include a second shoulder portion positioned next to the first leg portion and a second leg portion positioned next to the first shoulder portion.
Abstract:
The instant invention is a pressure release safety system for a multi-piece wheel rim and tubeless tire combination, teaching designs for automatically relieving/releasing pressure as part of its disassembly. In this invention, fastening elements used to hold together portions of a wheel rim are provided with a blocking device or devices that prevents loosening and/or removal of fastening elements until said blocking device is first moved from a blocking position, where movement of the blocking device from its blocking position directly or indirectly opens or requires the opening of a pressure relief channel or channels—allowing, enabling and effecting depressurization of the sealed pressure vessel. When applied in the context of a tubeless two-piece wheel/tire assembly, the invention advantageously may include a blocking or safety device (typically in the form of a ring) that covers all or a critical portion of the nuts/studs that hold the two piece wheel together. The act of removing the safety ring so as to access and remove the nuts from the studs to disassemble the wheel, opens an air channel in communication with the tire interior so as to allow pressure to escape from the tire interior.
Abstract:
A three-piece steel wheel rim for vehicle tires containing a front part, a center part, and a rear part. The front part and the rear part converge at the rear surfce of the center part and are bolted to the center part. Above the point of conversion, the rear part and the front part widen to form a V-shaped pocket which is partially closed by a rearwardly extending bulge on the front part. An O-ring is contained within the pocket. The center part may have a rearwardly extending support upon which the rear part may rest.
Abstract:
A safety device for suppporting the wheel of a vehicle that has a flat tire. In a first embodiment, two semiwheels are provided which are connected to the wheel hub by a layer of deformable elastomeric material which absorbs the shock that is generated when weight is transferred from the tire to the safety device. Additional support structure is provided that becomes engaged when sufficient weight is placed on the semiwheel. In a second embodiment, a tire is provided with a membrane separating its interior into two independent chambers. The membrane has a circumferential projection for supporting the outer tire tread should the outer chamber suddenly deflate. A novel tool for installing the safety devices of the present invention is also disclosed.
