摘要： A process for manufacturing a road-bound, horizontally fitted vehicle body with a roof unit having an outer skin and an inward facing ceiling with a ceiling frame, whereby the roof unit is a unit ready for installation, and a basic structure having longitudinal frames. The ceiling and the outer skin along with the basic structure have joining configurations that mate with each other at mutual places for joining. The process includes the steps of introducing the ceiling frame through an opening in the basic structure for a rear or front window, moving the ceiling frame upwardly into contact with matching configuration points for connection at least one of laterally on the longitudinal frames and on front and rear cross members, fixing the ceiling frame in place, and lowering the ceiling and the ceiling frame followed by the outer skin onto the corresponding matching configuration points for connection to the longitudinal frames laterally and onto the front and rear cross members and securing there permanently.

摘要： A lift gate assembly for a vehicle includes a windowpane slidable between an open and a closed position within the lift gate along guide channels. A motor and drive cable move the windowpane between open and closed positions. Another embodiment the lift gate includes upper and lower sections pivotally connected to each other. The lift gate opens by folding the lower section upward relative to the upper section. Guide pins engage a guide track to hold the lift gate in intermediate open positions and also move completely free from the guide track to fully open the lift gate. In another embodiment the upper and lower sections of the lift gate are pivotally attached to the vehicle such that the upper lift gate opens upward, and the lower section opens downward. The windowpane slides open into the lower section along guide channels disposed within both sections of the lift gate.

The pillar support member has an elongated member extending between a windshield opening and a door opening, a short first member at one end of the elongated member extending along the windshield opening, and a short second member at the end extending along the door opening. The first member includes a first edge adjoining an end of the front header. The side roof rail has a substantially box-shaped cross-section and adjoins a second edge of the pillar support second member. The roof rail outer front member is affixed to the pillar support member. The roof rail outer front member adjoins the end of the front header in a region of the first edge, adjoins the side roof rail in a region of the second edge, and extends along at least a portion of the elongated member of the pillar support member. The roof rail outer front member and the pillar support member form a substantially box-shaped cross-section extending between the first, second and elongated members such that a continuous substantially box-shaped cross-section exists throughout the joint defined by the vehicle roof structure.

摘要： A modular headliner assembly for an automotive vehicle comprises a planar center support mat adapted for mounting to a roof panel of the vehicle. A perimeter support mat extends outwardly from the outer periphery of the center support mat and is adapted for mounting to the roof panel of the vehicle. The perimeter support mat includes a main portion and an outwardly extending flap portion pivotally connected to the main portion by a living hinge. An airbag module is mounted to an interior surface of the main portion of the perimeter support mat adjacent the flap portion. The airbag module includes an inflatable airbag and an airbag canister for inflating the airbag. The flap portion is movable between a closed position covering the airbag and an open position pivoted away from the airbag providing a passageway for deployment of the airbag through the headliner assembly when inflated by the airbag canister. One or more additional components, such as a grab handle, coat hook, accessory light and speaker are also mounted to the exterior surface of the perimeter support mat.
