Abstract: A cargo box for a pickup truck includes a base portion including a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion defining the cargo box, a first side wall extending from the first end towards the second end on a first side of the cargo box, the first side wall including a first end portion and a second side wall extending from the first end towards the second end, the second side wall including a second end portion. The cargo box also includes an end gate being pivotally mounted at the second end of the base portion by a pair of adjustable hinges, the end gate being disposed in one of a closed position, a first intermediate position, and a fully open position. The pair of adjustable hinges are configured to selectively retain the end gate in one of the first intermediate position and the fully open position.

Abstract: A truck includes a passenger cabin and a truck bed located rearward of the passenger cabin in a vehicle longitudinal direction. The truck bed includes a bed deck and a pair of spaced apart sidewalls. A tailgate replacement extends across a rear opening to the truck bed and between the sidewalls. The tailgate replacement includes vertically-extending support rails and vertically spaced-apart, laterally-extending support rails that extend between the vertically-extending support rails. A slider is connected to the laterally-extending support rails. The slider includes a first connecting portion that slidably engages a first one of the laterally-extending support rails and a second connecting portion that slidably engages a second one of the laterally-extending support rails.

Abstract: A tailgate support cable assembly includes a cable and a retainer portion attached to an end of the cable. The retainer portion rotatably attaches the end of the cable assembly to a vehicle tailgate. The retainer portion includes a tailgate retention portion, an object contact portion extending from the tailgate retention portion, and a sensor engagement portion extending from the object contact portion. The retainer portion is structured to rotate with respect to the tailgate responsive to contact between the object contact portion and a foreign object positioned in a seam between the tailgate and another portion of the vehicle, during a closing movement of the tailgate. Rotation of the retainer portion brings the sensor engagement portion into contact with (and activates) a touch sensor mounted on the tailgate. Activation of the touch sensor causes a stoppage and/or reversal of tailgate movement, thereby preventing “pinching” of the foreign object.
