摘要: A method for deploying a payload into a body of water using a deployment vessel, the deployment vessel including a hull defining a payload compartment, the method including positioning the payload in the payload compartment of the deployment vessel, the deployment vessel and the payload having a buoyancy, wherein the buoyancy is initially negative, deploying the deployment vessel into the water at a drop zone, wherein the deployment vessel moves horizontally through the water as it submerges vertically downward under a force of gravity, changing the buoyancy to positive after a minimum horizontal distance is established between the drop zone and the deployment vessel, thereby causing the deployment vessel to surface and, after the surfacing of the deployment vessel, opening the hull to release the payload therefrom.

摘要: A marine safety device for deployment in water upon unwanted entry by a person into the water to indicate the location of and to provide buoyancy for that person; the assembly comprises a cover for retaining components of the device as an undeployed package, an inflatable mast having a proximal end which engages the cover and a distal free end, means for inflation of the inflatable member upon contact between the device and a body of water. A weight is located at or near the proximal end of the inflatable member to bias the inflatable member to a generally upright position. The device further comprises means to enable a person in the body of water to gain floatation from the assembly via at least one grippable member attached to the inflatable member. The device when deployed, sits in the body of water so that at least part of the inflatable member remains exposed to view above a top water level to enable rescuers to pinpoint the location of the person in the water and to enable a person in the water to use the inflatable member as a buoyant safety device.

摘要: An elevated dock designed to lift boats out of the water when not in use is provided because storing a boat in the water exposes the boat to contaminants in both fresh and salt water. These contaminants attach to the bottom of the boat severely impeding the performance of the boat. Cleaning these contaminants off of the boat is time consuming and costly. Repeated cleaning of the boat will eventually result in damage to the hull. The elevated dock uses polymer to form adjustable pontoons that can easily be fitted to a variety of sizes and styles of boats. An embodiment of the elevated dock uses an articulated set of pontoons for lifting sailboats. The elevated dock can be deployed completely independent of the dock, eliminating unwanted stress to the dock. The unique gusset design, free-floating feature, articulated pontoon option coupled with the unique manner in which the pontoon length, width and volume can be adjusted for various boat types and sizes.

摘要: A collapsible sea anchor or drogue (50) having first and second hollow frusto-conical body parts (74, 80) which are made from strong flexible material, such as canvas. Four flexible lines (60, 62, 64, 66) connect the two body parts (74, 80) together and to a nose portion (52) to which a towing line can be connected. The sea anchor or drogue (50) is very effective in that the drag is large having regard to the diameter of the body parts (74, 80) and, moreover, it can be compactly stored when in a collapsed condition.

摘要: A sea anchor or drogue having a body comprised of a front section which tapers forwardly to a nose, and a hollow, rearwardly tapering back section. Longitudinal open channels are formed in the front section and lead into the back section, with vanes or tubes defining the sides of the channels. In certain embodiments, baffles are fixed in each channel and oriented so as to direct water into the back section to create the drag effect.

摘要: A recoverable sea anchor for a vessel wherein the anchor is made from a flexible sheet material with a periphery and a center. A plurality of lines interconnect a plurality of spaced points around such periphery to a ring which in turn is connected via a releasable connecting means to a swivel. A mooring line is then used to connect such swivel to the vessel. The releasable connecting means is operative to release the connection between the swivel and the ring in response to a predetermined load to put into play a disabling line, in a slack inoperative condition which then interconnects the swivel and the center of the chute or another portion of the chute to disable or collapse the concave chute. A modification of the sea anchor is to make it frusto conical or tubular in shape.

摘要: A drogue chute is used to extend a long line transducer array in the water as it is being towed in or played out in an ocean current. To avoid problems during a subsequent retrieval of the array, the drogue chute is disconnected. For this reason a release mechanism is interposed between the transducer array and the chute. This release mechanism provides for a nonabrupt separation of the array from the chute''s riser straps. An electronic circuit in the mechanism initiates the separation of a first riser strap to dump the entrained water and next, the second riser to completely sever the chute from the array.
