摘要: A method for detecting an edge of an object is carried out by means of a detection device (10), which has an emission region running along a first straight line and has a receiving region which runs along a second straight line, which is arranged in parallel to the first straight line. An emission subregion (11a-p) of the emission region is selected, which extends up to a first end of the emission region. Light is emitted from the emission subregion (11a-p) and a light signal of light reflected on the object is received in the receiving region. The emission subregion (11a-p) is then shifted along the first straight line in the direction of a second end of the emission region. Emitting, receiving and shifting are repeated until the emission subregion (11a-p) extends up to the second end at the start of the shifting step. A signal course is compiled from the received light signals, and the detection of the edge from the signal course is carried out.

摘要: A sensor assembly for a printer arranged to displace printed material along a path, including a sensor housing and a platen assembly. The sensor housing includes top surfaces and resilient elements fixed to the top surfaces, and houses light emitting elements. The platen assembly includes transparent material and a platen housing with a plurality of steps, and is arranged to engage the sensor housing and displace in a first direction along the sensor housing toward an end of the sensor housing such that the transparent material is aligned with the light emitting elements in a direction orthogonal to the axis. As the platen assembly displaces in the first direction, the plurality of resilient elements is arranged to engage the plurality of steps to urge the piece of transparent material into contact with the sensor housing with progressively greater force such that the transparent material is sealed against the sensor housing.

摘要: A transporting device includes steering rollers, a center roller which is disposed between the steering rollers and deflection-detecting sensors that are positioned downstream from the steering rollers. When a sheet of paper has a width which is narrower than a width of a reference sheet of paper, the positional deflection of the sheet of paper is corrected by transporting the sheet of paper to a shift roller with the sheet of paper being nipped by the center roller and thrusting a forward end of the sheet of paper against a shift roller. When a sheet of paper has a width which exceeds the width of the reference sheet of paper, the positional deflection of the sheet of paper is corrected by rotating the steering rollers separately based on a detected result of the sensors with the sheet of paper being nipped by the steering rollers.

摘要: An apparatus and a method separate flat objects, including flat mail items. The apparatus has a first and a second separator. Each separator extends a plurality of overlapping objects in a direction parallel to the object planes. The second separator has a transport element and a retaining element. The second separator can be operated optionally in a separating mode, in which it is capable of separating objects, and a transport mode. An overlap detection device checks whether an item which is transported by the second separator contains a single object or a plurality of overlapping objects. The overlap detection device measures the respective length of the transported item at at least two instants. If the length changes, the item contains a plurality of overlapping objects. If a plurality of objects has been detected, the second separator is switched over into the separating mode and it separates the objects.

摘要: Reels of material are transported by being disposed on a first transport carriage which is, in turn, disposed on a second transport carriage. The second transport carriage travels between a reel storage area, that has a plurality of storage spaces, and a reel changer of a web-processing machine. The second transport carriage, together with the first transport carriage and the reel of material that is deposited on the first transport carriage then travels to an offload or unload position of the reel changer.
