    摘要: The invention relates to compositions of matter that can be used in NOx reduction. The compositions include non-zeolitic materials such as Group IIIB metal oxides which have high surface areas to promote high catalytic activity. In particular, the compositions have high surface areas comprise agglomerates of nanocrystalline metal oxide particles. The invention also provides methods for making these compositions and for using these compositions to reduce NOx compounds without a need for toxic reducing agents such as ammonia.

    摘要: The invention relates to materials for removing the nitrogen oxides NO and NO2 present in exhaust gases, particularly from internal combustion engines of automotive vehicles running in a medium containing a superstoichiometric proportion of oxidizing agents, said materials being capable of absorbing the nitrogen oxides and of desorbing the nitrogen oxides when the temperature is raised, relative to the absorption temperature, or when the gas composition is changed to a rich mixture, said materials being mixed oxides in which the metals A and B are all octahedrally coordinated and are arranged to form the ilmenite structure ABO3. These materials absorb the nitrogen oxides and do not become poisoned in contact with the sulfur oxides and carbon oxides containing in the gases. In the presence of a group VIII metal, the material is capable of eliminating the adsorbed nitrogen oxides by reduction when the gas composition is changed to a rich mixture.

    摘要: A process for removing nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases is provided. The process comprises mixing an exhaust gas generated during the chemical vapor deposition process for producing semiconductors and containing dinitrogen monoxide (N2O), nitrogen monoxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) with ammonia (NH3) in an amount 0.5-3 times the sum of the stoichiometric amount corresponding to nitrogen monoxide and the stoichiometric amount corresponding to nitrogen dioxide; and then contacting said mixed gas with a noble metal catalyst at a sufficiently high temperature to decompose dinitrogen monoxide, nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide. Dinitrogen monoxide (N2O), nitrogen monoxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in exhaust gases can be treated in one step. No N2O is produced as a by-product.
