    摘要: A process for intermediate treatment of aqueous sewage containing biodegradable materials and non-biodegradable materials. The sewage is contacted with an ozone-containing gas to pretreat the sewage by converting a substantial amount of the non-biodegradable material to biodegradable material, followed by a conventional secondary treatment with an O.sub.2 -containing gas such as air in the presence of aerobic or facultative anaerobic microorganisms.The process may also include subsequent tertiary treatment with ozone to destroy the microorganisms after secondary treatment. A relatively small amount of the overall oxidizing gas requirements is provided by ozone. The secondary treatment is made more efficient by the ozone pretreatment.

The air from the first chamber is ozonated by the U.V. light, and this air is bubbled into the water in the second chamber to maximize the purification through simultaneous ultraviolet and ozone exposure.

    摘要: A method of recycling the off gas from an ozone disinfection step used with an activated sludge waste water treatment system, and apparatus for carrying out the method. The moisture is removed from a substantial portion but not all of the ozonation off gas, while the nitrogen and carbon dioxide contaminants that are contained in the off gas are left in it. The dried off gas is mixed with oxygen enriched gas from the original source, and the resulting mixture is delivered to the ozone generator for the production of more ozone. Another portion of the ozonation off gas is diverted upstream for introduction into the oxygen treatment facility of the activated sludge treatment plant. The drying of the ozonation off gas is preferably carried out by use of a two cycle self-purging dryer, with the portion of the ozonation off gas that is not delivered as a recycle component to the ozone generator utilized as the purge gas for the dryer before it is recycled upstream.

    摘要: A method of treating water with ozone comprising:(1) generating ozone from oxygen by an ozone generator,(2) supplying the resulting ozone-containing gas to at least three silica gel-packed adsorption towers one after another to cause the silica gel to adsorb ozone selectively from the gas while recycling discharged gas from the adsorption tower to the ozone generator, the adsorption tower being maintained at a temperature of -180.degree. to 10.degree. C, the silica gel containing a heavy metal in an amount of not greater than 1.0% by weight,(3) supplying a carrier gas to the adsorbed ozone-containing adsorption towers one after another at a pressure not higher than the pressure applied for the adsorption of ozone but not lower than the pressure at which the concentration of ozone in the carrier gas flowing out from the tower will be 20% by weight so as to desorb the ozone from the silica gel,(4) introducing oxygen into the deozonized adsorption towers one after another from one of the towers which has completed adsorption so as to purge away the carrier gas from the deozonized adsorption tower and a line extending therefrom, and(5) contacting the ozone-containing carrier gas discharged from the adsorption towers with the water to be treated.

    摘要: A bath water treating system in which even higly resistant germs may be destroyed by treating the bath water with ozone and a halogen compound such as bromine or hydrobromic acid to establish a redox potential in excess of 600 mV. The bath water is recycled through a quartz type filter loaded with a composite filtering medium. The filtering medium comprises two superposed layers, a lower layer consisting of a mixture of filter gravel and mineralized charcoal, and an upper layer of activated charcoal. A halogen or halogen compound is adsorbed in the charcoal layer. An ozone generator is mounted within the filter housing. The bath-tub assembly comprises a cabinet in which are mounted a bath-tub, a filtering and degerminating unit and the respective accessories and controls. The ozonizer is removably mounted within the filter housing and includes a mixing chamber and check valves.
