    摘要: There is provided a process for preparing a low- or non-dusting substantially non-volatile (preferably highly light reflective) metal flake pigment composition, which comprises ball milling atomized metal powder in a milling fluid substantially comprised of water, in the presence of one or more corrosion inhibitors and a substance which acts as a lubricant for the milling process. Optionally, the paste may be formed into granules for easy storage. Preferred metal pigments are aluminum or gold bronze and in one embodiment the metal pigment is aluminum, the lubricant is oleic acid and the corrosion inhibitor is a phosphate ester having a polyethylene oxide side chain. Agent(s) having both lubricating and corrosion inhibiting properties are preferred as additives.

    摘要: A glittering paint, not requiring formation of primer layer and/or clear top coat layer includes a coated film forming polymer, a glittering pigment comprising inorganic powder and a solvent, wherein the coated film forming polymer comprising a pigment carrying polymer, wherein the pigment carrying polymer has a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of at least 50,000 and a refractive index nD of at least 1.48 as measured by an Abbe refractometer, the coated film forming polymer has an entire weight average molecular weight (Mw) of at least 50,000, the inorganic powder has an aspect ration of particle length or diameter to particle thickness of at least 50, and the glittering pigment content (PWC) in the coated film is 15 wt % or less.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method of forming inorganic pigments using one or more metal alloys. Metal alloys used in the method of the invention are preferably milled to a mean particle size of less than about 10 microns, may be mixed with other metal oxides, and calcined in the presence of oxygen in a rotary kiln. Inorganic pigments formed in accordance with the method of the invention can be used in a wide variety of applications, including the coloration of glass matrixes, ceramic bodies, polymers, and paints.
