Abstract: Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a hydraulic binder including a calcium aluminate, which involves: a) providing a composition including a lime C source compound and an alumina source compound, the composition including at most 95% lime C and alumina, and at least 23% alumina, by weight relative to the total weight of dry matter of the composition; b) placing the composition provided in step a) in a moisture-saturated environment, at a hydration temperature of between 40° C. and 150° C., so as to precipitate hydrated phases containing at least one aluminium oxide combined with a calcium oxide and with water; and c) subjecting the precipitates obtained in step b) to a baking temperature of between 200° C. and 1300° C., for at least 15 minutes.

Abstract: The present disclosure belongs to the technical field of mortar, and in particular, to three-dimensional (3D) printed mortar and a preparation method therefor, and a 3D printing method for mortar. The mortar includes: 50-70 parts of ordinary Portland cement; 6-14 parts of sulphoaluminate cement; 2-20 parts of slag powder; 18-22 parts of fly ash; 0.25-2 parts of accelerator; 0.05-0.45 parts of cellulose ether; 0.1-0.3 parts of naphthalene series water reducer; 0.4-0.6 parts of redispersible rubber powder; 0.1-0.5 parts of defoamer; 0.1-0.5 parts of early strength agent; 0.4-1.0 part of polypropylene fiber; 100-120 parts of fine aggregate; and 30-40 parts of water. A 3D printing speed of the mortar of the present disclosure can be stably kept within 150-200 mm/s by using the above raw materials at a reasonable ratio.

Abstract: A method of agglomerating bulk ceramic fibers includes mixing the bulk ceramic fibers with water to form wet fibers; mixing the wet fibers with a binder including an organic binder and/or an inorganic binder to form agglomerates; and drying the agglomerates. The agglomerates may be mixed with additional binders and fillers to form an insulating mix that may be used to insulate a furnace or other heat source. A foaming nozzle may be used for the application of agglomerates. A foaming agent and water are air atomized within the foaming nozzle and the resulting foam is mixed into pneumatically conveyed agglomerates, which result results in a lightweight refractory material layer on a target substrate.

Abstract: A construction composition comprises a) a cementitious binder comprising one or more calcium silicate mineral phases and one or more calcium aluminate mineral phases; b) optionally, an extraneous aluminate source; c) a sulfate source; d) an ettringite formation controller comprising (i) glyoxylic acid, a glyoxylic acid salt and/or a glyoxylic acid derivative; and (ii) at least one of a borate source and a carbonate source, wherein the carbonate source is selected from inorganic carbonates having an aqueous solubility of 0.1 g·L−1 or more, organic carbonates, and mixtures thereof; and e) a polyol in an amount of 0.2 to 2.5 wt.-%, relative to the amount of cementitious binder a). The composition contains 0.05 to 0.2 mol of total available aluminate, calculated as Al(OH)4−, from the calcium aluminate mineral phases plus the optional extraneous aluminate source, per 100 g of cementitious binder a); and the molar ratio of total available aluminate to sulfate is 0.4 to 2.0. The construction composition exhibits high early strength and sufficient open time. The advantageous effects are readily achievable for a variety of cements with varying elemental compositions.
