摘要: A eutectic metal alloy is placed through a coiled tubing into a wellbore formed in a subterranean formation. The eutectic metal alloy includes a mixture of multiple metals. The eutectic metal alloy has a melting temperature that is less than a melting temperature of each individual metal of the multiple metals making up the eutectic metal alloy. The eutectic metal alloy is heated to a temperature equal to or greater than the melting temperature of the eutectic metal alloy to liquefy the eutectic metal alloy. The liquefied eutectic metal alloy is flowed from the wellbore and into the subterranean formation, thereby exposing the liquefied eutectic metal alloy to a specified downhole temperature within the subterranean formation and causing the liquefied eutectic metal alloy to solidify to form a seal. The seal prevents fluid from flowing from the wellbore and into the subterranean formation.

摘要: A method of cementing a wellbore includes injecting into the wellbore a non-aqueous fluid; injecting into the wellbore a cement slurry and a non-ionic surfactant composition after injecting the non-aqueous fluid; and allowing the cement slurry to set, wherein the non-ionic surfactant composition comprises an alkyl end-capped ethoxylated fatty alcohol, a chain extended non-ionic surfactant, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing.

摘要: Provided are methods, compositions, and systems embodying cement compositions and the synergistic effect of lost circulation materials (LCMs) and fluid loss control additives (FLCAs) thereupon for cementing subterranean zones. A method of subterranean well cementing, comprising providing a cement composition comprising a hydraulic cement, a first FLCA, a LCM, and water, wherein the first FLCA comprises a water-soluble polymer with repeating units comprising a 5- to 6-membered cyclic amide; introducing the cement composition into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, wherein inclusion of the first FLCA and the LCM in the cement composition fluid reduces fluid loss into the subterranean formation, wherein the subterranean formation has fractures with a width of from about 1 micron to about 800 microns, and wherein the subterranean formation has a permeability of about 1 millidarcy to about 300 Darcy; and allowing the cement composition to set in the subterranean formation.

The precipitated and mined calcium carbonate lost circulation materials may be needle-shaped aragonite having an aspect ratio of about 1.4 to about 15.

An exemplary fluid loss control additive includes a copolymer containing 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid monomer units and acryloylmorpholine monomer units, and a graft copolymer. The graft copolymer contains a humate and, grafted onto the humate, a side-chain polymer containing at least one of acrylamide monomer units, acryloylmorpholine monomer units, acrylic acid monomer units, and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid monomer units.

摘要: In order to substantially reduce friction during drilling operations, specialized lubricants need to be added to drilling fluid recipes. In general, lubricants reduce friction by forming a thin film of liquid that separates the solid surfaces in contact. The primary objective of this research is to evaluate the performance of enhanced activated sludge (EAS) as a lubricant in drilling fluids. EAS is activated sludge rich in lipids. The mixed consortium of microorganism in waste water treatment facilities in grown under a high carbon/nitrogen ratio to trigger lipid accumulation.
Performance of EAS as drilling fluid additive was compared with commercial lubricants in terms of lubricity and flow properties. Lubricants were evaluated using water-based drilling mud at lubricant concentrations of 1.78, 3.11, 4.43, and 6.17 pounds per barrel (ppb). Experiments were carried out in a standard lubricity meter. The lubricity meter tests the ability of the lubricant in the drilling mud to reduce friction. Other parameters measured were plastic viscosity, gel strength, fluid loss, mud cake thickness, sand content, methylene blue test (MBT), alkalinity, and chlorides. These findings show that EAS will improve the properties of water-based drilling mud.-

The cellulose nanoparticles have a positive zeta potential in a range of about +100 mV to about +10 mV, and a length in a range of from about 50 nm to about 500 nm, and the cellulose fibers have a length from about 50 microns to about 500 microns.
