Abstract:
Among other things, the present invention provides various apparatus useful in paper manufacturing and recycling. On such apparatus is a paper strap that includes a paper body that is formed of a compound structure. Such a paper strap further includes an adhesive material formed on at least a portion of the paper body. Methods for using the paper strap include methods related to recycling paper products, methods for sealing cartons, and methods for manufacturing paper products.
Abstract:
A method for recycling and reusing corrugated paper comprising the steps of: pulverizing the waste corrugated paper into a plurality of scraps; adding viscose to mix with the scraps; agitating viscose and the scraps so that a surface of each scrap is stuck with a thin layer of viscose; filling the scraps with viscose into a model; compressing the scraps for solidifying the scraps so as to form a shaped product; and drying the shaped product. The size of the corrugated paper is less than 10 cm. The viscose is water-solvable viscose. The compressing pressure is larger than 15 tons. In agitating step, recycling short fiber for waste paper can be added.
Abstract:
A method of treating solid containing material derived from effluent or sludge from a plant for de-inking paper, the material containing calcium in the form of one or more insoluble calcium compounds, the method including the steps of treating the material with an acid to cause dissolution of the calcium thereby forming a calcium ion-containing solution in which insoluble solids are suspended, separating the solution from the insoluble solids and incinerating the separated solids. The solution containing calcium ions may be treated by adding one or more reagents to form a calcium compound precipitate, eg calcium carbonate. The particulate solids produced following the incineration step and following the precipitate formation may be employed as pigments or fillers in paper making or paper coating.
Abstract:
A process for producing artificial fibers without significant fiber surface hydrolysis from waste cellulose acetate continuous filament or filter rods which can then be used in the manufacture of specific paper products. Waste cellulose acetate fibers generated during filament manufacture or cigarette manufacture as off quality production is used for rendering the into a form suitable for specific paper manufacture. Paper products which comprise 1-10% of the subject fiber as part of the pulp furnish is also disclosed.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an environmentally friendly insulating material, or more specifically an insulating mat for insulating buildings, houses etc. and a method for the manufacture thereof. The mat is non-allergenic and almost 100% recyclable, and is characterized in that it consists of fabric remnants which are shredded into shoddy, mixed with a fibrous polyester with a low melting point and flax fibres to form a homogeneous mass, which is then moulded into the desired shape and then heat-treated until the polyester fibres melt, bonding the fabric and flax fibres together.
Abstract:
A pulper for producing paper pulp from waste paper containing undesired scrap particles includes a container (1) forming a chamber (4) defined by a bottom wall (5) and a cylindrical circumferential wall (6). A paper tearing member (7) is arranged in the chamber closed to the bottom wall and is rotatable in a horizontal direction of rotation about the centre axis of the cylindrical wall. The bottom wall and the circumferential wall forms a substantially circular peripheral reject chute (11) situated under the paper tearing member for collecting reject including undesired scrap particles. The reject chute extends helically in the direction of rotation of the paper tearing member from an upper end (12) of the reject chute downwardly to a lower end (13) of the reject chute. The circumferential wall (6) has a substantially cylindrical shape and extends vertically to the reject chute (11). A discharge element (2) is adapted to discharge reject in batches from the reject chute.
Abstract:
Process and apparatus for removing fine impurities from a fibrous suspension. The process and apparatus each provide for conveying the fibrous suspension to at least one sorting device, separating the fibrous suspension using the at least one sorting device into an accepts portion and a rejects portion, finishing at least some of the accepts portion leaving the at least one sorting device using a finishing device, separating at least some portion of the rejects portion leaving the at least one sorting device using at least one last sorting device into an accepts portion and an rejects portion, separating at least some portion of the accepts portion leaving the at least one last sorting device into an accepts portion and a rejects portion using a flotation device, and finishing at least some portion of the accepts portion leaving the flotation device using the finishing device.
Abstract:
A method of processing papermaking fiber includes characterizing the initial color of the pulp and the color of the pulp after treatment with a phloroglucinol stain. The color response of the pulp to the stain has been found to be a better indicator of processing needs for secondary pulps in particular and in any event is selective for untreated groundwood as opposed to conventional groundwood identification methods. The color difference is used to target a suitable product for the pulp, to aid in bleaching/deinking strategy or to enable optimization of fiber blending for particular products. In a preferred embodiment the process includes determining changes in CIE L*, a*, b* and brightness values before and after staining of the pulp.

Abstract:
Paper stock pulper and process for guiding a suspension in paper stock pulper. The stock pulper includes a container having a side wall and front walls adjacent the side wall, and the process includes driving a plurality of rotors to produce a plurality of intake flows directed toward the side wall, deflecting the plurality of intake flows about 90null on the side wall so that the plurality of intake flows flow along at least a part of the side wall, and deflecting, with at least one flow directing device, at least a part of the suspension flowing along the side wall and flowing toward at least one of the front walls or an adjacent rotor from the at least one front wall or the adjacent rotor.
Abstract:
A product and process of making an absorbent paper article such as paper products, towels, napkins and the like is disclosed. In the invention, one may supply a single furnish, or slurry, of cellulose fibers. Then, it is possible to separate or fractionate the slurry into at least two portions based upon fiber length in the slurry. Fines are employed in the process of manufacturing the products, and fines are specifically incorporated into an inner layer of the final paper products. Fines, short fibers, and/or fibrils are used in the process so they may contribute in a positive manner to the final paper product, rather than acting in a negative manner as a chemical nullspongenull or waste material. This use of fines in the inner layers of the product reduces the manufacturing cost and waste produced in the process. A soft paper product with good strength characteristics results from the process.
