The assembly further including a plurality of top covers removably connected to a top of the tracks to define an upper chase.

At least one of the frames including at least one section having a longitudinal seat defined by a bottom wall and by two sidewalls. The two sidewalls include two projecting wings in opposite parallel position that extend for the entire length of the section. The assembly also includes an insert, which is connected to the section and has an operating portion and a coupling body with two retaining teeth that extend along opposite directions and are engaged under the two projecting wings.

The cover may be in one or two portions, including a closure alone or a closure and a frame having an aperture that can be closed by engagement between the closure and the frame. When the cover is used alone it engages a frame or a wall circumscribing the access opening. The cover is sized and shaped to close a stairwell, or the opening at one end of a stairway, an opening in a generally vertical wall, a hatch, or a pull down ladder. The closure and frame are each made of one or more components.
